Being 2 pensioners wandering our great country, house sitting has enabled us to spent lots of time in different places at minimal cost. For nearly 4 months now we have been in SA when previously I had only driven through on the way to the NT where I have worked off and on. I keep on retiring, but the idea of some extra income has drawn me/us back. SA has been a surprise to me, a beautiful state, we have stayed in the Clare Valley, Milang and now near Victor Harbor. WE have had time in some luxurious homes looking after dogs, cats, horses ducks and chickens. We will be back in the van early November and off to camp by the Murray. The thought behind all this is I/we long to be back in the van doing our own thing going wherever. Sure we have to travel slow but that's part of the pleasure. We don't have a home anymore, but, for us, life in our van is paradise for us. A bit of a ponder on a quiet day watching the world go by,and of course reading the forums.
We are currently camped at Ten Mile Rocks 113 klm West of Balladonia heading back East having spent 3 months House Sitting in Perth. Our year started with a sit in Canberra, then Bywong (Farm Sit) before spending 3 weeks at Malua Bay on South Coast of NSW.
We will have 5 years up Easter 2019 being "full time" on the road having notched up close to 40 sits and spending 50% of our time living in home owners homes etc.
Our current trip to North West WA started in Central West NSW in April then Hervey Bay, across Central Qld up to Katherine and then through the Kimberleys to Broome down the North West Coastal Highway to Perth.
The "House Sitting" gig has given us the opportunity not only to see so much of this country, but to meet beautiful people and experience living in communities all over this great country.
Yes, it provides a great life style and when you just want to "wander" you do at your pace just like being on a "permanent holiday" while in retirement.
Check the "shared photo" section for a week we spent in WA Wheat Belt taking in the Wild Flowers and finding the much talked about Wreath Flowers.
