jayco journey caravan - any thoughts?

does anyone have any thoughts on the newest Jayco journey caravan? I am particularly interested in whether the placement of the battery inside the cabin is OK. my research suggests it is never a good idea to have batteries inside as they sometimes fail with dire consequences. any info from knowledgeable caravaners would be greatly appreciated.

G'day Shane, Many vans have batteries inside (ours is under the bed) but the Jayco probably has a sealed battery and a track record of few or no problems. Maybe someone who has had a sealed battery give problems will be able to comment.

Hi Shane,
Take a few minutes or so to peruse the forum - you'll find lots of useful stuff + some humorous bits as well, stuff to keep you alive, etc.

Also don't be afraid to use the "Search" tab - it isn't perfect but it may save some running through the posts to find what you want.

Mostly info on batteries is going to be in the "Techies" tab. Sealed batteries - eg AGMs can be kept anywhere & in any position, except in locations that are hot.
Telephone exchanges have the sealed batteries stacked on their sides to save room & to give access to the terminals. As they don't give off corrosive gases, they can be kept with the equipment. It's also harder to drop a shifter across the terminals. At 1100A, a shifting spanner can be instant "Splat"!
