A copy of an email received today...........think what you like, but I reckon a few of us can't wait that long
A friend sent this to me & thought Id pass it on. Very interesting & informative:
My name is Alexander, I am a cardiologist and a paramedic. A very important warning for those who wake up at night to go to the bathroom...
You must be careful and use the "One-and-a-Half-minute law" which is scientifically proven. By waking up suddenly for one's physiological needs normally, we often hear that someone "was well in good health and died suddenly during the night without reason.
The most likely reason is that when that person woke up to go to the bathroom, he/she got up from bed in a hurry, but the brain needs greater blood flow, for having rested, causing a state of fainting and that is when the stroke happens. It is recommended to learn the "One-and-a-Half-minute law" that can save your life
When you wake up to go to the bathroom, you must first: Lay for 30 seconds after waking up and then sit up in bed for 30 more seconds lowering your legs quietly and sit like that for another 30 seconds " and only then get up to go to the bathroom.
With these steps the chances are gigantic to survive a sudden stroke, regardless of age... Share with all your family and friends. Remember that you can save yours and the lives of many people sharing this information...
Prevention is better than healing *
Pressure Arterial
120/80 normal 130/85 normal (requires control) 140/90 high 150/95 very high
Heartbeat per minute 72 BPM (Default) 60 to 80 BPM (normal) 40 to 180 BPM (abnormal) -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Compatibility of blood groups
What's your blood type and how common is it?
O+ (1 IN 3) A+ (1 IN 3) B+ (1 in 12) Ab+ (1 in 29) O-(1 in 15) A-(1 in 16) B-(1 in 67) AB-(1 in 167)
Water effect About the body We know that water is important but you never knew the right time to drink!
Did you know? Drinking water in the correct time maximizes the effectiveness of the human body;
1 Glass of water after waking up, helps activate internal organs...
1 Glass of water 30 minutes before meal helps digestion.
1 Glass of water before showering helps lower blood pressure.
1 Glass of water Before sleeping avoids stroke or heart attack.
When someone shares something important with you, take advantage of this and share with more people.
Thanks for posting that Bob - something to think about and appreciate the sentiments. Needs some scientific studies to confirm as I do none of the above and have no real problems (76). I also use lots of sugar, salt, coffee and enjoy a few beers. We're all different.
Certainly no problems with folk following that advice - probably can't do any harm. However, it does appear to have little scientific/medical support -
The information in these messages about rising from bed too quickly resulting in stroke or sudden death appear to be entirely baseless. While moving positions (such as prone to standing up) too quickly can cause dizziness or even fainting in a minority of people, there is little chance that a stroke or sudden death will result from this.
The fundamental claim that a stroke or sudden death may arise from exiting ones bed too quickly fails to provide any reputable medical sources. We scoured various medical websites looking for any known conditions or situations matching the description in these warnings but were not able to find anything.
Do people really think that sound medical advice comes from spam messages? If something says 'share this with everyone' then it almost always means it is full of nonsense. Water does not lower blood pressure, activate internal organs or have any effect on strokes or heart attacks, and getting up quickly does not cause strokes.
Struth, a minute and a half. I would have an accident by then. Maybe I could get a catheter installed.
I see the humour intent here, BUT having had a "friend" for 3 weeks prior to a serious cancer op. then again for 8 weeks after same (was supposed to be only 2 weeks but and internal plumbing leak was slow healing) I can assure you that such is an absolutely bad experience. My greatest admiration to those who have permanent fixtures and even self install and remove such just to live a daily life (wheel chair athletes etc.)

I slowly realise as I get older that I am definitely NOT the fastest rat in the race.
Also the older I get the more I realise I do not know.
Mobi Condo, I too HAVE BEEN HAD A CATHETER ATTACHED for four weeks then when came home I was attacked by my step son while he was drug effected and ended up back in hospital for another four weeks with a catheter. So know exactly what it is like. Thing is, I reckon the catheter is the best thing ever.
I think I might give up trying to have a little fun on this forum from now on.

All jokes aside, a catheter is a horrible thing in some cases but as I said I liked mine as I didn't have to get up during the night. BONUS I had no idea it was even in as it was done while I was still asleep during op. Even when it came out I had no idea as it was done at same time as 3 tubes in my chest and gut. I asked the nurse when was it coming out and she said she just did it.
A portable one would be good to have.
