In the last few days I lost my automatic login password to this (Grey Nomads) forum
I am using Windows 10 home edition, Firefox web browser, and AVG free antivirus
If there are others like me, who lost their automatic log in
Here is how I found out what was happening
Normal (left) click on the following in any Firefox web browser page
Menu
Options
Privacy & Security
Scroll down and click on Saved logins
I found that all my saved login passwords were missing It appears that Firefox and AVG free, have crossed lines of communication AVG free, had stopped anyone seeing passwords
Below is how I got all my automatic login passwords back
Normal (left) click on the following in any Firefox web browser page
Help (If you can not see "Help", then hit the ALT key on your keyboard, and it appears on the top left area of the screen)
Troubleshooting Information
about:profiles
In the Root, (not local) Directory click on Open Folder
Scroll down until you see logins.json.Corrupt Right click anywhere on this line, and normal (left) click on Rename
Rename it to logins.json by removing the full stop and Corrupt
Click anywhere else, and you are warned, and then asked if you wish to change this file, normal (left) click on Yes
Close that window by clicking on the X
Close the Firefox browser, and restart it again, and go back and look at your saved logins, and they will all be there. Once again you can use your automatic saved logins
If anyone can not follow this, and wish to see pictures, then just let me know, and I will put them up on here
Over the years I've used quite a few antivirus programs, Norton, AVG, Kaspersky, mcafee, all eventually caused more problems than they solved, the worst being Norton (very difficult to uninstall) mcafee are a pretty underhanded lot, always trying to install on your PC with others software.
Since moving to Windows 10 I've used the built in Windows Defender exclusively, have had far less drama with it than any of the others.
I keep an Excel spreadsheet updated with all my passwords in it. The spreadsheet itself has a password on it so when you try to open it, it asks for the password. That way I only need to know one password and no other passwords, PINs, URLs etc.
Whenever I have a password change or a new entry to the spreadsheet, I eMail the spreadsheet to three other eMail addresses I have control of in the event that my computer dies.
You can download password storage systems such as Keypass and others but a simple spreadsheet eMailed around gives you DR (Disaster recovery).
I found the same issues with firefox and stopped using it. Went back to Chrome and it seems to be better now than earlier versions. At least chrome remembers my passwords and account info where I want it to.

Watch out for avg free,,,, let virus in years ago when I used it NEVER again,,,,, took ages to sort out as it hid all forms of repair options.
Agree Nortons terrible,,, Mcafee,,, fell over too,
Use Kaspersky now in Laptop, tablet (android) and phone (android) ,,,, very good for an amateur like me,,, very efficient and real time reporting of attempts to access my stuff

Exactly my experience WRT Nortons & Macafee.
I like the Russian kaspersky safe site feature when using public wi fi.
I am on WIN10, have also removed my external anti virus and now just use windows defender - at the advise of a computer shop. Had trouble with Kaspersky.
I now use OneNote for all my passwords in a password controlled page. Also all bank statements, records of all insurances and any print-outs I dont want to actually print etc. and it is a great place for saving pages to be accessed from my Samsung Galaxy since I dont use the Cloud yet.
Will now go fix my login for this site also - thank you Tony-Bev.
