Since this has long been a bugbear of mine, I figured that a few observations would not go amiss. I hasten to add that the following does not apply to all road users obviously! but a bloody big majority from my observations.
Do not give way to a vehicle already in the roundabout unless you are less than 30ft away. (The thinking here is if you think that there is just enough room go for it!)
A orange traffic light does not mean be prepared to stop, it really means plant the right foot. ( a green light means the same)
When the speed limit is 60kph its ok to do 70 plus. (if the limit is 100kph then anywhere between 100 and 120 is ok.)
When stopped at traffic lights one should always creep forward in order to be the first away when they change. ( a bit of wheel spin all the better!)
Constantly change lanes, weaving in and out all the way down the road the fact that you are "cutting in and causing hard braking" is not your problem.
When stopped at lights if the vehicle in front does not move the second that the lights change a long blast of the horn is the way to go.
All possible overtaking options should be considered when you find yourself behind a truck or caravan, even if they endanger others lives. Remember there is not a moment to be lost.
If you see a bus with indicators on to pull away from a stop it is your bounden duty not to allow him to do so. You must never get caught behind a bus it could cost you at least a minute.
As an old feller once told me quote "a lot of drivers these days have not got time to s--t" Add the presence of ice, mary jane, and all the other combinations of drugs out there and our roads are truly becoming a very dangerous place to be. For me the joy I once had in driving is fast becoming a chore and the roads here in Melbourne are almost at choke point now.
Shut up Phil, hitch the van up and go bush!!!!!

Could not agree more, now retired 3yrs. so travel more on weekdays & see all & more of this behaviour, the amount of female drivers (young & old)I see breaking the speed limit frightens Me, car makers can delete speedos, no one uses them, or indicators, they scream past Me when there is a red light plainly in front of them, W.T.F. end of rant.
I drove trucks for more than 30 yrs and was based in central Vic
When driving in melb l'd be on the different major freeways every day and then return to the sticks
Imho the worst, most aggro, most impatient inconsiderate car drivers were those on the Monash freeway by far...in both directions.
I'm near the Hume Highway near Euroa. Use the highway all the time. I can honestly say that those cars that cruise at around 120-130kph are NSW registered. Also those cars that do not slow down to 40kph when passing emergency vehicles are also NSW. Maybe they don't get the advertising about it like we do. And AFL is better than rugby lol

Your a brave man eaglemax, A.F.L. better than that other game, to be honest I dont notice the number plates, I' m too busy keeping out of their way., nice place Euroa, always stop on the way up the hume for a break, pity grandmas little cafe over the road from the school closed down, always had brekky there,
John.
Very surprised how many cars in Melb run red lights. In Adelaide you see one go through often,,, but in Melb 3 or 4 were going through every day, not on orange on red.
No cops on road,, so free for all

I dont think I,m perfect by any means but I can drive better than these teararse clowns any day of the week, you putting yourself in the other camp are You P&M?
Joda, don't worry about P&M being in the other camp. With all those batteries, water and solar I doubt that the old Oka would barely get away from the traffic lights let alone run them! vbg.

I agree with Olive Oil. As a regular driver in Melbourne, Sydney and Gold Coast, the bad behaviour that we experience is IMHO due to the increasing congestion of the cities and the frustration that it engenders. The few seconds delay turns into minutes of lost opportunities... Fortunately I never exhibit this bad behaviour, it is always someone else(?).
I find that if I smile and give a friendly nod to bad drivers it doesn't cause me as much bother as when I spent my time looking for others faults. Every driver makes errors, most aren't deliberate.
cheers

Yep.
This "open discussion" is just a finger pointing exercise. Worse than that, any opposing view is immediately attacked. Maybe if we spent as much time looking at our own performances as we do blaming others, we would all be better off?

Gotta smile at the irony after this opening gambit.
"Whine, whine, whine. I hope all you perfect people fell better now. "
I don't and never confess to being perfect, far from it but I do believe the attitude of the person wronged has a calming or negative reaction. It does me no good looking for wrongs and errors every where
cheers

ps just seems on the forum and in life generally people want to have a crack at someone else's expense
I do look at my own performance o righteous one, whats wrong with pointing the finger at MORONS anyway, drove linehaul Melbourne, sydney , brisbane so feel somewhat qualified to pass an OPINION on current driver behaviour, dodgem car free for all if you ask Me, yes, everyone makes errors driving, but they are not the same things We see happening regularly on the roads these days..
