That's lake weed for sure. It looks like the level is way out and I have been that far out plus further and there is weed that far out. For memory, the end of the ramp is there too.
Could be a few problems launching boats this season by the look of that.

Hey everyone. There has been no water put in or taken out of Greens lake for many years. The lake will refill as soon as we get some decent rain/runoff.
If you want to understand a bit more about the wetlands and why filling the lakes is not a great idea, read the report and see what us landholders had to deal with.

Where is the pump shed Ken?
G'day Marj.
If you look out from say the launch ramp to the other side of lake then look across to the far left it is the shed that you can see. There used to be a, I think for memory, red light that flashed when the pumps were in use.
Also and as well even on the camping side of lake where the four white poles are on the edge of the water (near where you often camp) there is/was a small pump set up that pumps water up to the toilet block.
I saw a pic somewhere of the new toilet block that again for memory, I think was from you, that looks like a water tank at the back of the block. Maybe because the lake is going to be down most of the time by the look and sound of things.
Sad times indeed.
I am surrounded by drought effected areas and farmers here in NSW where I am set up. Empty dams etc. Horrible sights.

Thanks Doug. Gotcha. I am at Greens at the moment and would you believe it's a Saturday and only 6 or 7 rvs of different types.
Who would have thought there would be no locals and their boats out here on a weekend.
Can only be the lack of water is not conducive to launching said boats.
Nothing has been done on the toilets since I was here last over a month ago.
Such a shame it's come to this. In all the years since I discovered this fabulous spot, has it been looking so sad.

The free campers/Grey Nomads who visit the area should be well informed by this.
There have been many, many silly rumours about Greens...none true.
Greens lives on to be a wonderful free camp and the new amenities block will only support that.
The lake level will fluctuate over the years depending on rainfall and quality assessment of the water.

Stands to reason, after so many years of sh#t facilities, these have been improved as the lake dies. Typical GMW actions.

Lots of interesting activities at the lake today as I was leaving. First, workers were very busy in and around the toilet blocks, coming and going busy as little bees. To make it more interesting there was also machinery working in the paddock to the right, if you are looking at the toilet block from the boat ramp. Two large pieces of machinery were taking the top off the hill in that paddock and the soil was being carted further down where I could also see what looked like a large pile of grey metal /stones. Not sure what they were doing but did see plumbing pipe lying around next to where they were working.

I arrived back this afternoon to a water truck emptying into some tank in behind the toilets and others doing converting.
A lot of water pipes lying around. All purple which I think has something to do with recycled water. In the paddock where the work was happening last week, it is now quiet but I could see 4 concrete lids in a row as I drove past.
Just here for the night.
Will check up again in a week or so.
Perhaps they could install "dunny cam" and we could all tune in 24/7 to marvel at the latest technology being implemented.
I think it would only be fitting if a senior GN member (perhaps Dougie) cut the opening ribbon and was afforded the official first seating. so to speak. on the new throne.
I wonder if there is going to be an "open door" policy implemented with this new construction.
I have given this some more thought and think there is even more that can be done to recognize this fabulous event.
I presume this dunny will be a multi cubicle construction, not just a single seater, so instead of having just one person conduct the official opening, we have a contingent of senior GN march forward after the offical ribbon cutting and have a ceremonial seating. I would suggest that this ceremony take place first thing in the morning or shortly after breakfast and a cup of tea, just to add the realism. Those not actively involved in the ceremonial seating could then while away the day eating prunes and all bran before a group gathering outside the dunnies scheduled for late in the afternoon. I think the atmosphere would be electric by then.
There is no end to the possibilities for this landmark occasion. I think we could start a charity along the lines of "adopt a dunny" whereby for a small donation each month, we could receive a photo of a chosen dunny that our hard earned is maintaining and even, perhaps, naming rights. Just imagine, somewhere out there, there is "Ken's Karzi" or a "Col"s Crapper" with you as its sponsor. You could get monthly reports as to patronage, paper use and general wear and tear. I imagine that you could also have a few family photos placed inside so that users can get a real feel for the place and its sponsor.

You are being very disrespectful to the local residents who use this FREE camp and utilities the most...NOT THE GREY NOMADS!
The Grey Nomad campers are GUESTS to this FREE camp site.
You need to research the background and history how this site became a FREE site for the locals to use and why it continues to be a FREE camping, picnic and aquatic paradise for ALL users.
It took a long time and much lobbying by local residents to achieve the update to modern amenity facilities for ALL users to enjoy. For your information the cost of the rebuilt amenities has cost $200,000.
Show me a similar lake site in AUSTRALIA that remains a FREE camp for uninterrupted use for 363 days of the year with FREE flushing toilet facilities, FREE dump point and FREE rubbish disposal. Including, camping on the lake shore and aquatic access to clean irrigation water.
And no, an interstate Grey Nomad guest is inappropriate to cut any ribbons...that would be reserved to a local "dignitary" who would have championed the new modern facilities.
No wonder so many fantastic FREE camping sites around Australia are being shut done with such attitudes in place of travelling Grey Nomads.
Others may wish to respond to you with some subtle diplomacy, however, there is tremendous pride in what the local users have now achieved at GREENS LAKE for the benefit for ALL future users.

I think you will find that in every LGA, part of the budget is apportioned to construction and maintenance of infrastructure for enjoyment by the locals and tourists and visitors. As a rate payer in my LGA I am very mindful of the contribution that not only "us rate payers" make, but also the renters, tourists, travellers and the unemployed all make. They subsidise our rates by the money injected into our local economy. If you look along the east coast there are public baths, car ferries, boardwalks, public jetties all there for the locals and to attract the tourist dollar. These are free and for everyone to enjoy.
Nothing galls me more than hearing local people bleating about visitors and travellers using their rate money. Without visitors, renters and tourists our rates would be astronomical and the services and infrastructures we take for granted, sadly lacking.
I have never been to Greens Lake but if you are indicative of the local population then I doubt if I ever will. I don't feel the need to have my travels to an area interspersed with lectures from sanctimonious, condescending, humourless bores.
I hope you enjoy your new dunny and spend many happy hours in your shrine.

I welcome you to attend as I did when I organised the first get together of grey nomads nearly 10 years ago.
The first group totalled about 20 -24 gn's and from there on in this group just multiplied by multitudes.
Not so many seem to attend now but its still my favourite place since I first discovered the lake at least 6 months before the 1st get together.
