WannaBeNomad

Hi All, I just wanted to say Well done everyone for " Living the Dream".  It is my goal to travel Australia, something I think about a lot.  I envy those women who can do  it on their own.  I have thought about it, one of the bonuses of growing older is you know your capabilities.  I love the outdoors, cooking, camping, road trips, kayaking, bird watching (the list is endless, sorry), but  I am not mechanical at all.  I can change the oil and top the water in my car and that is where it stops.  The thought of braking down the in the outback put shivers down my spine...So, if any of you would like a travel companion, would love to hear from you.

Welcome Jaylynn, Start with small steps, you'll be jumping in puddles with the rest of us before you know it. There are many tag along "Safari" type adventures like Lightning Ridge Police Bush Safari www.outbacknow.com.au/uncategorized/lightning-ridge-police-bush-safari-4wd-adventures/ Forensic services Police bush Safari www.patrol4x4.com/threads/forensic-services-police-bush-safari.22464/ Bourke Bash cobarweekly.com.au/tag/bourke-police-community-outback-trek/

Those three are well organised and normally run during Sept/Oct School Holidays - Check out information on their web pages, speak to each Group's Secretary and sound them out. You will find that they are very accommodating - many of each groups members spend a lot of time out there - you may find a couple of members that you "click" with.

Hi Jaylynn, and welcome!

If you get to be in the Greens Lake area near Corop, Vic. then you could chat with a number of solo lady nomads who are there from January to late March. They have been travelling extensively for some time. Wishing you the best in your travels

Hi Jaylynn, welcome to the forum

As Richard (Dick0) has already said, there are usually a number of solo ladies, at Greens Lake

As far as breaking down on the road fears, are concerned

If you carry some spare parts, such as fan belts, and radiator hoses, for your vehicle
There are still many of us, with enough chivalry, to stop and assist

The secret is that we will have to be flagged down, as many of us may think that your vehicle, has just stopped for a bit of a break

Hope that there are many good road trips, ahead of you
