Water hoses

I have two blue (food grade) water hoses, from Bunnings I think, about 8 years ago

I have never had the plastic taste in them

It make me wonder, if there had been a fault in the manufacture of your new blue hose

Initial running water should eliminate any manufacturing "Taste" in hose, if actually a drinking water approved hose (not all blue hoses are). Any hose left in sun with water in hose will slightly taint the taste, depending on the level of purification that is done at local water supply ie some towns like Blackall Qld don't add any chemicals (including Fluoride).
The taste you are experiencing may be from your on board tanks - not your hose - ensure pump is turned off when hooked to mains water.
If your tanks are tainting water taste - Clean tanks with Milton or mild chlorine bleach solution - rinse with water infused with lime cordial.

Several years ago bought a light blue Pope hose from Bunnings, that was rated as a drinking water hose, that had a smell no matter what you did with it.

It is now in use as a general garden hose.

I used two from a CV shop, blue and white but got brittle and started to crack. I had already changed all fittings to 'Hoselink' and was so impressed I got two of their drinking water hoses. I am impressed with them so far because they are soft and roll up easy and NO taste.

I am a happy Chief in my aluminium teepee.

The attached photo is the old one.

I agree whole heartedly with you Doug. I have tried 5 different so called "caravan hoses" from reputable CV dealers, green shed and camping outlets but always get a plastic taint even through a charcoal filter. That hose link hose solved the problem I have had for over 40 years. There is nothing worse than a plastic taint to a nice hot cup of black tea. I do believe however, that the canvas rollup type hose is taste free, but it does not suit my purpose.
