1947 Fargo

I am rewriting pages of notes I had jotted down during the 50th Anniversary of End of The War in The Pacific against the Japanese 15th August 1995 about my Father in law in New Guinea during WW2 for my Daughter and Son as I led to believe no other family member has this information been relay to them by their father.

My notes are horrible, spelling errors, words missing and my writing at times unreadable.

The one thing I would like some help with is the approximate price in 1947 for a Fargo 4 ton truck.

I hope there is one truck person out there who may have a clue.

I know my 1973 Mercedes Benz cost around $17000. My 1976 Dodge $35000, 1981 Volvo $70000.

Our grocer had one with a big canopy, we used to sit in the back with the groceries when he did his country run, 2 hours or so bouncing on th floor boards, maybe 2000 pounds as a guess

Craig1

I am doubting my writing of 990 pounds 3 shilling and 6 pence.

My thoughts is around 4 times the price of car around the 5 maybe 6 hundred mark.

Anyone got any thoughts.

Do not quote me on this but...

When Craig1 above wrote

It jogged my memory

At the Birdwood motorcar museum (I think it is called), near Adelaide in SA

There is/was a Dodge Fargo, with a long body, which use to deliver groceries, on a longish country run
Perhaps a local South Aussie, will know more about it
