Could be an AP6 but the tyres would be different. But to be honest I think the AP6 had different tail lights.

I think one of the Vanguards was called a Spacemaster. They were like tanks on wheels. My mate's father had one and we used to all pile in the back on the way to cricket.

Not so,Bruce.The only important external difference was that the AP6 had a split grill,as shown,while the AP5 had a straight-bar grill.Both had the famous 225 'slant motor',which lay on its side to fit under the low profile bonnet.In their day,they were 'the' car to have,way superior to the EH,HD and HR Holdens,and the XM and XP Falcons of the day........bigger and much more powerful.In those days,the handlingk of such cars left a lot to be desired! The Valiant's big fault was front suspension bushes,and that fault caused lots of lost sales for Chrysler.The white car is the AP6,while the green car is the AP5.Cheers

Oops! Just saw your amended post.The VC had vertical tail lights,as opposed to the horizontal lights on the AP6.And the VC was the last model to use the 225 slant motor,which was replaced by a free revving 245 Hemi motor that produced 185hp...big gear in its day!

Yobbar I was brung up in a Chrysler household. After dad's adventure with the Humber it was all Chrysler and Dodge. Brother was a Chrysler grease monkey. Had a S Series then a VC with a 318 in it. Dad had a 1957 Chrysler Royal with the push button auto. That was fun. Then a Dodge Pheonix. Important from Canada. Same crappy auto. Chrysler made great motors but crap autos. Then we raced Toyota's. Big change. But a story for another time. Merry Christmas

Yeah Bruce.....push button auto never was much good.We had a 1954 Plymouth Belvedere with a manual gearbox.It was a fantastic car in its day,with the 230cubic inch (3.8 litre) engine producing 110hp.....this was almost twice the power produced by the FJ Holden of the day,with its 132 cubic inch (2173 cubic inch) motor producing only 60hp.It also had a manual gearbox.The old Plymouth was fantastic in a straight line,but handled like a barge.However,it had a huge interior,and fitting 4 passengers across both the front and rear seats was common......and plenty of room in the boot for...err.....soft drinks! Great cars.Cheers

I am not sure if anyone else had noticed and posted, but I reckon the camp ground is Rudd Park at Burleigh Heads Qld. Photo taken from Hayle St that overlooks the caravan park. North Burleigh Headland in the background along the beach. Caravaners are still going to Rudd Park.

EJ or EH Holden near the Vanguard in the photo's foreground.

I'm a Newbie. Just made an introductory post earlier.

Yes you are correct, it is Burleigh Heads and taken from the early 60s according to the original post on FB.

I would say that because if we can see an EH Holden then it would have to have been 1964. If it is an EJ then probably 1963.

Hi Rob...it's an EH,and possibly was built in 1963,as the first EH was released in August of that year.EJs were built from July 1962 and were the last model to use the boat-anchor 138 motor. The car between the AP5/6 Valiant,and the Kombi van, up near the beach,may also be an EH,but photo is not clear enough for me to be sure.Cheers
