this situation has been going on for nearly a year . people should know by now that if they leave their home turf the situation may change quickly an they may get stranded . if you happen to be one who gets caught out or your holiday plans are disrupted those are the chances we take. deal with it the more people moving about and socializing the greater the risk.
LIFE IS WHAT HAPPENS WHILE WE ARE BUSY MAKING PLANS
Was just sitting and having a quiet beer with a caravan park manager friend and he was saying that he will try to honour bookings from the regular Vics and now from NSW and other states but if closures are to go on with the borders it will be first in best dressed.
The park he manages have actually enjoyed a better booking rate if compared to other years.
The occupancy and profit has been higher except for the 9 weeks that no one was permitted to travel.
This increased occupancy is continuing as I type and this reflects how the business has been better than prior to covid. The truth is you can only sell anything once, so anyone planning travel needs to understand that if circumstances change then managers and business owners will take the most profitable path.
All travellers should be aware of uncertainty with regulations and spur of the moment changes.
Just read this morning of a breach of covid rules by overseas cricketers.
It appears to me that many who are being allowed across our international borders have no care or any respect dor our country.
I would imagine the task of monitoring tennis players and their following groups will be even more difficult for authorities due to, if nothing else, the numbers of people who travel in support of these players.
We need to shut international borders to everyone. The risk is just too high for us within Australia.
Current figures in the U.S. is that currently, a person dies every three and a half minutes from Covid 19.
Englands hospital system is totally overwhelmed with current numbers and interviews with general people from TV news reports are indicating that many believe there should have been control measures introduced much sooner than was the case.
The jurisdiction of NSW needs to recognise that their policy in management of Covid is failing and needs to ramp up the controls to equal that of other states if for nothing else than to protect the people in NSW let alone the rest of the population of Australia.
Should Gladys be told that she is dreaming? Wearing masks indoors including restaurants works how?
The breach of the cricketers was reported by the SMH but the link wont work to non subscribers.

Sorry Rob, but I cannot agree with shutting the borders to any Australian wanting to come home. Shut it if necessary to non citizens, but ALL Australians deserve to be allowed home, once quarantined correctly.
I also think the same should apply at our state borders. Residents should be allowed home in a REASONABLE time frame, not just if they are there in a day, once again with quarantine, but allowed in their home.
Remember, there but for the grace of God or simple good luck go many of us.

Good morning Ian,
I can understand from where you are coming and your views how all Aussies should be permitted to come home. My current stand on this is brought about by the gross mismanagement of quarantine procedures both earlier in the Covid crisis back in 2020 and now at Xmas time.
If I remember correctly, there was issued a directive from our PM for all Aussies to come home back in early March.
The rush we have experienced with people coming back for Xmas has created a situation where we can not cope with the numbers to handle in Quarantine. This rush I think is a fair indication of the selfish intent of those overseas who had no intention to return to Aus until Xmas.
Many of those coming in have travelled from high risk countries and have bought the virus into Australia. It should also be noted that each and every person who comes into contact with an infected traveller is at extreme risk. Probably the ones in most risk are those sitting on the aircraft for extended periods with infected people.
I feel it is fairly obvious that those who may have had symptoms of being ill still decided to travel.
The fiasco which is our current state borders situation is because this new threat was suddenly sprung upon us all in the moments before Xmas and has probably caught all states a bit short. Many are on well earned holidays.
Generally the states, except for NSW, handled the border closures well and this has been obvious by the steady elimination of social transmission in each state.
Currently, testing stations are turning people away. This situation is just unbelievable. Without testing we are doomed.
The current pressure on our somewhat inadequate system is being exacerbated by continuing to permit overseas travellers into the country and this is the reason for my stance on international travel into our country.
We could all ask of our govt as to why the army has been withdrawn from assistance in Covid Quarantine operations directly before Xmas but that could be another topic.
There but for the grace of god go all of us,
but if luck plays a part in this, then lets gamble with the best odds to keep us all safe.
the return home request was issued last march we are now into jan (9-10 months) and we still have people returning at their leisure or when it suits them??
the cricketers if they have breached the rules make an example an export them , the biggest issue seem to be rules apply to some an not others.
the two people we heard about yesterday that flew to melb x canberra the story today sounds a little different to what we heard yesterday.
their story was they waited an hour an no one could tell them what they were required to do ,so they left . funny how the news was all over it so quickly
