Apparently British Airways flew him and family free to Barbados in December, according to other reports. Just shows the perils of international travel against FCO advice!

this came out of a British news paper, bit strange they would do that considering his age an high risk with air travel

I agree with you, that it was a very strange thing to do, considering his age, and the Covid outbreaks in England

I will assume that he caught it from someone, who did not know they were carrying it

From what I can make out, (I am only going from news articles), he had plenty of checks

He was negative when he entered hospital on January 12, for pneumonia, and was still negative when he returned home on January 22

He still had pneumonia, but they thought that he would be more comfortable, at home, and was being looked after by medical people, and family

He was found to be positive when checked at home on January 22

He returned to hospital on January 31, as his breathing had deteriated

I acknowledge what you are saying. All I'm saying is, someone did not take sufficient care and an old and frail man died.

This is a completely different to those of us who take the risk of going out into the community everyday and yes we understand we could come across somebody with the virus who doesn't know they have it and catch it.

But, this poor old man was in his own bed and vulnerable to whoever visited him. He had no say. Just careless.

I can understand where you are coming from, and I also think that it was carelessness, as he had become someone to look up to, and I would guess, that he actually caught it in hospital, as (I think), you have it a few days, before you show positive on the test

Unfortunately (in my opinion), this is just one of the reasons for it being named as a pandemic.

You can not see it, you can not hear it, you can not smell it, by the time you feel it, it is too late, and you have already (unwillingly), passed it on to others

I am led to believe that the reason he did not receive a vaccine, was that he had pneumonia

I have no idea why he did not receive a vaccine, when it first came out

pneumonia how did he get ?

i had it once ,it was referred to as holiday pneumonia and fairly common 2-10 days after a long haul flight.
he would have been very susceptible to covid when he came down with pneumonia and went to hospital with all the sick people, an there are a lot of sick people in the UK
