What is with Australians?

First everyone 'trusted' our governments to lock us up to keep us safe. Now the vaccine is rolling our everyone wants it yesterday!! Now they don't trust the government to give us the jab. Is it safe or isn't it? Dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. This isn't a crack at the left or right governments. It's a crack at Australians in general. tick a knot in it folks and let them roll it out the best they can.

They told us we will all get the jab by October. Unless I've had some sort of knock on the head it's still not October.

There once was a saying - Australians are so apathetic, but then who cares.

Fast forward back to the 1950s where our modern style of communication was 7.45 am ABC news. Newspaper, and if you lived out west as I did it arrived 1 to 2 days late. The Movie sound news at the local theatre, about a week late.
Now compare that to today's tech style communication, and you find sometimes it is recorded as it happens.
You know, strange things back then, we all got our respective immunisation shots and we never thought for one minute to complain. We just got on with our fantastic lifestyle we had in the 1950s.

But hey!!! here I am using the technology of today to talk to you. ( or perhaps raving on )

I will trust our government of the day to look after me.

For your information Ge, the High Court has found that the word Pom is not derogatory. You can do your own search after labelling me a Racist, so I hope Cindy does read this thread.

It's no different to calling an American a Yank, or a New Zealander a Kiwi and of coarse a Frenchman a Frog now that is derogatory and used universally by the English aka Poms.

That might be so Kebbin but there is still no need for those remarks, why do you say what you said where is your proof show the stats. To me you are targeting a certain race so racist. By the way im forth generation Western Australian.

Ps: my wife of 45yrs is part Aboriginal i suppose you would degrade them and tare the all with the same brush.

Ge,
You may not like the term Pom.
But I assure you it is not used or intended to be derogatory in any way. You should not take it as a negative.

If you like its a "Nick name" or slang.

Ge why do cricket commentators say we are going to play the 'poms"? It's a common term. It's PC like this that gets right up everyone's nose. Petty BS.

I see what you are saying BGT it is not the Pom that anoyed me it was the fact that a race of people where mentioned with no stats base to confirm the quote. Why just mention Poms why not others. Anyway BGT i think its time to to put it to rest, thankyou.

Ge it's always a case of how the word is used. Not the word itself. Too many folks get excited about the word and not the contexts in which it is used. The media are always doing it. Selective reporting.

As long as I can remember if you came from England you are a "Pom", from Ireland a "Paddy or Mick", From Scotland "Jock", From NSW a "****roach" from Qld a "Canetoad" from NZ a "Kiwi" From US a "Yank" Germany a "Kraut" and so on.

I think we need to lighten up a bit!

And don't forget Italians were dings and dago's (I have lot's of Italian friends) kiwi's were and still are sheep shaggers (I'm a kiwi, have you ever wondered why their sheep are so white and look like they have just been blow dried?) the yanks are septic tanks the Mexicans are spicks it's endless and forms an important and harmless way of gently taking the p*ss out of each other over a few beers.
