Craig whacko Jackson is a seriously funny bugger I like him, good thing they only put Mal Meninga up against him. Imagine the late rugby player Jonah Lomu stepping into the ring :)

ps santa not so fast buddy, if you are going to quote tv viewing figures to prove that ping pong AFL is viewed by more Aussies tv watchers than NRL or Rugby Union, and your right, then consider that the tv reality show 'married at first sight' probably out rates AFL viewing figures and I think we can sum up the collective IQ of their audience :)

ps as a guide to their IQ think the current interest rate for bank mortgages cheers

Homophobic comments/names say much less about the target than the shooter.

I recall not that long ago that a contributor with a similar vocabulary was shown the door.

About time the  moderators did their job and not close the post down, but, closed down those who have made these comments.

In this day an age, bloody disgraceful

Homophobic comments??? I see nothing approaching homophobia in this thread, what I do see is a bit of good natured verbal jousting, there is at times far worse content in the Jokes forum and no one blinks an eye.

Instead of people being offended by everything they disagree with they need to toughen up a bit and realise there are always opposing points of view.

If you find the comments in a thread not to your liking,  the solution is simple, don't engage, move on.wink

Thanks Peter, you certainly seem to have mastered the art of disagreeing without being offensive.

A bit of good natured argy bargy is harmless as well as being entertaining.biggrin

If the derogatory term for homosexuals is not homophobic then you are correct. Unfortunately in this case you are not.

2 posters did that, and I objected. Obviously that offended you, so take your own advice as per above.

I can accept good natured banter regarding sports, but it doesnt need the type of comments made by those 2 posters. I was not offended by the digs about sport, but there is no need to try and emphasise a point with the use of the terms used.

As for scrolling past, why should I have to? Can I not express a differing opinion as well? Once again, following your own advice could apply.

As far as I am concerned, the standard, behaviour or post you walk or scroll past, is the standard, behaviour or post you accept.

You just DON"T make statements like that anymore and they should be deleted immediately, MR Moderator.

Typical...you can't answer a simple question,so you resort to insulting comments.Perhaps the only time you seem genuine is when you're insulting someone? Of course, these comments have caused me unimaginable distress that can probably be eased only by an intelligent response to my question? Although I understand that the requested response may be beyond your ability,I would be interested to see exactly what you can provide? Cheers

P.S There are 2 'Rs' in 'YobaRR'.

Not at all Santa. I just find some things a step to far, and I saId so. That is what I did originally in this thread. In fact one of your posts suggested something similar.

If others then find that uncomfortable, and can find no logical or sensible argument to prosecute their position beyond dont read it, then that is not my problem.

Ill now leave the thread, as I know when it is pointless to discuss some things any further. I will go and be serious in my corner!

Wanda, somethings are just beyond comprehension!

With the organ loudly playing "How Great Thou Art" the Reverend and the Deacon have now left the building to retire to rectory to pray for your soul.

According to the SMH AFL is booming in Sydney to the detriment of rugby.smile

I think Rugby Union has been in decline for years Santa. It is played at a few private schools with most of the clubs under severe financial strain. NRL on the other hand is going great. One that is really going great, at junior level especially, is cricket. Most of the kid's teams up to about under 12s are made up of boys and girls.

In relation to AFL, I think the following they have is predominantly expats from the AFL States. It remains a total bore for those of us raised in NRL States.

I have to agree DMaxer rugby union has been declining for years in Australia (not just in Sydney) regardless of what the SMH likes to tell people about the popularity of AFL.  In a city just up the road we also have strong rugby history going back 150 years and only a small AFL following, I doubt that I could find a kid who would be able to name a rugby team that playing in our local competition. Over time both the NRL and the AFL have been very good at evolving and marketing their products to increase popularity unfortunately rugby is still firmly anchored somewhere in the past. Personally I find it difficult to get into a game where most of the time the outcome is determined by someone blowing the pea out of a whistle rather than by the players. Each to their own I guess it is the second most played football code on the planet behind soccer.

Port Adelaide dished out a flogging to St Kilda last night 93 points to 39, Martin Frederick did a great job in his first game for the club.

From my viewpoint, great result.biggrin
