Simple question.

Should political representation be based on gender or ability?

Regarding the question on ability, pushback against quotas instantly fails on the assumption that males are always better candidates because women do not have the abilities to represent a population that is slightly more female than male.   The current crop of MPs, state or federal, clearly got pre-selection on factors other than ability.

 Spot on mate.

bgt I see there are some schools in Australia that ban students from using the terms mum or dad in case it offends, it doesn't get and sillier than that. Schools should stick to the three r's and stop meddling in "parenting"

peter67 our daughter and her husband are both high school teachers. One public one private. I can tell you a whole lot of silly PC that is going on. The world is going crazy and we are judging everyone by PC instead of their ability and personality. PC and double standards are getting in the way of the real issues.

There are folks in Australia deliberately promoting anything that causes division in the population.
