Do you slam your caravan door shut? Do you slam your car doors shut?
If so, why?
I can't understand why a lot of people slam doors shut? I just close gently and it still closes OK.
While on noise. Do you have outside speakers? Do you watch TV outside with volume up loud? Do you think of others around you, noise wise? I don't have outside speakers and although I have a TV for outside, don't bother, nothing on it anyway. I am very considerate and thoughtful of others around me.
Questions, questions, questions.
OR
Have I turned into a grumpy old man?
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

If all the windows are up on the Whizzer, it is necessary to give the sliding door a good shove to ensure it closes properly. It's a bit the same on the ute. If the windows are not cracked a little then the door needs a bit of momentum to overcome the air pressure and get a complete lock engagement.
Outside speakers? After standing too close to a lot of really loud noises during my time in the Military, I don't hear so well. To compensate, I usually use Bluetooth headphones or buds to listen to the TV or to music.

Hi Doug, how's things up there in Kelly country? The door slammers get to me too, I can close a door without the need to slam it. Have not yet experienced the outside tv blaring but will one day no doubt. Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion that respect for others in this day and age is so far down the list as to be practically non-existent except perhaps, some of us older people who were brought up to respect others.
Regards,
Phil.

I dont understand door slammers either..it is annoying particularly when they are packing up.
Recently we were camped and about 25 metres away came a family of adults and kids.
They set up two gazebos and a igloo type tent for the kids (6).
It was 5.30 in the morning when I woke up to a sleep alarm going off.
This alarm ran for about a minute then reset which was a about 10 to 15 seconds then it started again.
This went on for about ten minutes after which I got up and went out to see what was going on.
At the same time one of the Dads had gotten up and was getting into the igloo to turn the alarm off.
Then the bloody kids were awake and within minutes they were all on the go on bikes and running around on full note...all before 6am.
The day before these kids ran through other camps and generally made pests of themselves.
You know what though, I don't blame the kids, the blame lies solely with the parents, they offered absolutely no supervision or guidance as to what is acceptable behaviour.
Living in a block of units about half the residents slam their front door. It is not necessary, the door will close & lock without issue.
I have brought the issue of slamming doors up at many AGMs & letters have been sent out, in the long run to no avail.
Occasionally I get really annoyed & slam our front door to send the noise through the entire building. It sends a message for a week or so, but then it is back to normal.
It's a lost cause, people just don't give a sh__!
A long time ago I installed Blum door shock absorbers on all our kitchen & wardrobe doors, soft pads on room doors. Even acoustic insulation in the car which quietens the car's doors. Also on common laundry doors, garden gates in our building.
The only solution, Uvex 36db earmuffs!..... plus ear plugs!
Yes Doug, I agree. What really annoys me are morons that feel the need to shout when using their phone for their half hourly link up with Imbeciles Anonymous.
A quiet sit under the awning is interrupted whenever one of these cretins feels the urge to report in on some trivial occurrence to a likeminded boofhead. It seems the call is not enough. We are then all treated to that dope informing their other half of the contents of their just finished moronic ramble.
At least there are no generators.
I agree Doug there us no respect for others so we no longer go away at long weekends. The one that always get me is those that leave their diesel engine running for 45 minutes while they shout at each other over bump bump music setting up. And arguing over which way to park. Yes I am a grumpy. Cheers Stewart
Loud phone conversations, at any time, and stereos at midnight. I've often fantasized about someone inventing a pocket sized microwave blaster that completely destroys the mobile phones innards.
There was a young couple in our block of units you could hear through the single brick common wall, & she definitely wasn't a snorer! The novelty wore off pretty quickly!

A couple of weeks ago we took a trip to Kangaroo Island without the van and on the way there we booked 3 nights in a motel in Victor Harbour. When we checked in they told us at reception that they had moved us to a different room as there was a Greek wedding in their function room and the guests who were staying at the motel wanted rooms that were close to each other. What they failed to tell us was that our new digs shared a wall with not only the function room but our patio was used by the kitchen staff for their cigarette breaks. Luckily there was a Woolworths supermarket only 100mtrs up the road and we were able to purchase some earplugs. To our surprise the festivities were all wrapped up by 11pm so except for those first few hours the rest of our stay there actually wasnt too bad...
Our tug has doors that require a decent and definite hand on push/pull to shut. Anything else and they would not seal. If coming back to the vehicle soonish, I will give it a one-click push just to hold it.
On the other hand, the at home vehicles shut very easily.
On the van there are no outdoor speakers, the door catch is reasonable. But again, will not fully close without a little shove.
On site we do not idle the engine more than is necessary to position to hook-up. Moving the van can be done at idle.
