An incident last night at the local shopping centre/movie cinema reinforced our faith in today's young people.
Last night we went to the local Event Cinemas at the Garden City Brisbane complex.
When we returned to the Mazda after dinner & a movie I noticed the tail lights still on. Yes, I had forgotten to turn off the headlights! (strangely they did not turn off automatically which was a surprise to me - I noticed this morning that the lights alarm was turned off. Don't know how this happened as it is in a part of the program that I have never previously entered).
Of course the bloody thing wouldn't start so I rang RACQ who said that they would be there in an hour or so.
As we waited two young couples returned to their tricked out 4WD parked next to us. I asked them if they carried a jumper lead, which they didn't. Buggar! While we were chatting to them, un-noticed by me one of the guys went across the road to an all night Servo & purchased a jumper lead ($40).
He came back & we successfully started the Mazda & cancelled the RACQ call out.
There was no way that they would take anything in return for expense & assistance, I wanted to pay for the lead or at least half of it & give it to him to keep.. the driver said that he should have carried a jumper lead and needed one anyway.
What lovely kind young people!! Off they went before I could get any details or think to get their rego to perhaps reward them in some way.

I have installed an Anderson plug in my car as I jump start a lot of cars. Can also jump start from my auxiliary batteries via Anderson plug as well.
Neighbours came to me in a panic to jump start their car, they needed to get to hospital as she was having a baby. The same scenario has happed twice with the same people. One would think people would learn.
Recently towed a truck in our street with 3 tonnes of roof tiles off the front lawn. The builders are now getting a tow rope. Got a case of beer out of it as it would have cost them $300.
& repaired a couple of neighbour's punctures which I have been offered something, which I have said put it towards a tyres repair kit.

Great to be able to help people.
I have carried a jump lead in the Patrol for only about 20 years & used it once to start a 4WD in a CP up around Goondawindi.
Have today swapped the Mazda's parking with the Patrol so that I can connect the battery to it's fixed solar charger for a few days. Short trips and the iStop feature probably don't help maintain the battery I suspect.
