G'day Ian,
In QLD the buy back rate for those of us who jumped in early is still 44c/Kw.
Later installations get 11c, later again get 6c.

I know there's been talk of charging us for supplying power - I'm certain this comes from greedy people buying large arrays & wanting to screw the Govt's, power companies for what they can. These are the ones who can damage the network. In northern regional QLD we don't have the beauty of cheaper power as there is only one supplier - Ergon/QLD Govt.

Sons solar is only topped up with gas a few days over the middle of winter where we may get 3 or 4 days overcast ! He turns gas off so he knows when gas is on . His gas bill hardly rises in this time . I doubt a lager system would help in this case ? He / we are wanting cheap energy but still like to have a fail safe system . In there case they both get home from work late in the evening !! So often solar cannot restore . Why he also turns it off in summer so gas doesnt turn on at night . The next morning the system recovers very fast ! Warm water in the morning ? Doesnt worry them !

Yobarr doesn't like others having different opinions.

Could be why he isn't on the other forum anymore.

Tony.

When folks say they have installed solar and haven't paid a power bill for x amount of time. Are they talking about just the power component of their bill. Or have they disconnected from the net work? 1/3 of our bill is just to be connected.

I have re-read the posts on discussion, firstly it was about whether the solar installers are just having us all on, nothing about whether I wanted help on an installation. However that being said, I was quite happy to receive any advice given.
However looking at Yobars statements:- Hi Ian you seem to be well-confused by the information provided to you up to this point. If you are happy to PM me your home address, I will be more than happy to give you all the help you might need.
Well I did send him my details, heard nothing back.

Me:- Yobarr where may I ask is the confusion?
Yobar:- nothing

Me:- I notice Yobarr that you have not commented on the PDF file I posted, "Energy Policy WA", maybe you didn't see it. Since sending you my address and email, have heard nothing, perhaps you didn't receive it?
Yobar:- Ian, sorry, but I am not interested in having to justify my comments. With residential Solar, I do know what I'm talking about, but if you prefer to believe the rubbish you've been fed by people who apparently know little, so be it.

Me:- Maybe it would be helpful, if someone would tell me why it is a waste of time just installing a 2kw system ?

Yobar:- but Ian has been fed so much rubbish that it is proving difficult to help him

Me:- Yobarr would you please quote and explain the misinformation (rubbish) that I have been fed!

Pretty easy to see why I got angry, I was fed no misinformation, I searched and read nothing more.
The only mistake I made was saying 37' was the ideal panel angle for Perth, that's not correct its 32'.

In fact I would have appreciated meaningful information, especially why installing a 2kw installation is a waste of money, but as you can read no answers were forth coming.

Hi Bruce. When people are happy to listen to others who know what they're talking about, purchase a quality Solar system, and use installers who know what they're doing, the entire bill can be eliminated.Couple of my bills below. Since installation I have NEVER get an electricity bill, and I have 3 ACs that my Mrs loved to use.Cheers

Hi Bruce.  On the bill below,I have underlined  "supply charge",which is the connection fee.The credits wipe out connection fees and night time usage. No bill EVER.I now get 20 cents/kw FIT (Feed in Tariff) so credits would be an EXTRA $360. Done properly, Solar is an absolute no-brainer.Cheers

Hi Yobarr. I wasn't aware that the credits would go towards connections fees as well. Thanks

Hi Bruce. All credits go towards eliminating the bill, with surplus funds deposited into your bank. After my usage,I get back about $1000/year.Cheers

Hi Ian.Above,I have highlighted what is blatantly untrue.Contrary to your assertions above,I did in fact respond to your PM,stating quite clearly "Ian,if you can have only 2kw,forget it".With Solar,as with weights,I do know what I'm talking about, but when my good advice is openly challenged, quite frankly,I can't be bothered arguing.I have included a couple of posts from earlier in the thread, one where I asked you how you thought that I knew what sized Solar system you were looking at,(How DID I know that? Experience?) and the other saying that I was not interested in having to justify my comments. Always I am happy to help those who are willing to learn, but I quickly lose interest when the facts I post are challenged. However,I wish you only the very best results from your research, but I would like to say that,so far,it seems that you have been speaking with people who know little? Good luck, and please let us know of your decisions.Cheers
