It's funny how perspectives change as we get older Santa.. I remember the highlight of the weekend when I was younger was to go to the flicks especially if there was a western showing. Blokes in the movies would get hit over the noggin with guns and just shake their heads and walk off. Other blokes would get absolutely flogged in a bar fight and have no marks on them. If the good guy got shot it was always in the arm and left no permanent injury. To top it off, the hero would also catch the attention of some beautiful woman but would choose to ride off into the sunset with his mate. I don't think it had too much of an impact on our mental well being.
Your right DMaxter, time moves on but some of us remain rooted in the past, perhaps not such a bad thing, gives us a different perspective when compared to the (woke brigade) the Germans have a word for it (zeitgeist) I imagine if you haven't lived through a period in history it must be difficult to relate to the mind set of those who have.
Changes to the English language are certainly very noticeable to people who notice that type of thing.
As far as getting bent out of shape over terms like poovtaball, I really don't care, some among us take life far too seriously.
