I am sure that even if you are a die hard techno follower and believer--I am sure that you will agree with many if not all of the comments offered below. It really is---Something to think about.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!
A cashless society means no cash. Zero. It doesnt mean mostly cashless and you can still use a wee bit of cash here & there. Cashless means fully digital, fully traceable, fully controlled.
I think those who support a cashless society arent fully aware of what they are asking for. A cashless society means: * No more tuck-away cash for those preparing to leave domestic violence. * No more purchases off marketplace unless you want to risk bank transfer fraud. * No more garage sales. * No more cash donations to hungry homeless you pass. * No more cash slipped into the hands of a child from their grandparent. * No more money in birthday cards. * No more piggy banks or tooth fairy for your child. * No more selling bits & pieces from your home that you no longer want/need for a bit of cash in return. * Less choices of where you purchase based on affordability.
What a cashless society does guarantee:
* Banks have full control of every single cent you own. * Every transaction you make is recorded. * All your movements & actions are traceable. * Access to your money can be blocked at the click of a button when/if banks need clarification from you which could take weeks, a hundred questions answered & five hundred passwords. * If your transactions are deemed in any way questionable, by those who create the questions, your money will be frozen, for your own good.
And before anybody slams this post ... dont go shooting the messenger.!! Im sharing it because maybe we all need to take off our blinkers.
Forget about cash being dirty. Cash has been around for a very, very long time & it gives you control over how you trade with the world. It gives you independence. If you are a customer, pay with cash. If you are a shop owner, remove those ridiculous signs that ask people to pay by card. Cash is a legal tender, it is our right to pay with cash. Banks are making it increasingly difficult to lodge cash & that has nothing to do with a virus. Please stop believing everything you hear on the TV. Almost every single topic in todays world is tainted with corruption & hidden agendas. Politics & greed is what is wrong with the world; not those who are trying to alert you to the reality. Please pay with cash & please say no to a cashless society while you still have a choice.
"They" have made it so convenient haven't they? I haven't used cash for months. Just one more way of making sure we are paying tax on every cent we earn. Great mine of infor for those tracking what we buy to sell off to marketers (SCOMO could see the value in that ) Just another way of issuing a cashless credit card, so we are all under surveilance on what we spend.
"Almost every single topic in todays world is tainted with corruption & hidden agendas."
Oh so true. Won't be long we'll all be good little soldiers. Not an individual among us. Even now, you can't buy goods that aren't in fashion. There's a lot of choice out there (too much) but at the same time little choice. Just think of the wide range of caravans available but they are basically the same colour and shape with more or fewer amenities. them. There's very little difference between them. And what about the cars? There are infinite variations but basically they are the same.

If it just stopped cash deals of Meth, Cocaine , Amyl and Alcohol to Indigenous Communities, fantastic - it will also stop the pawning/sale of stolen goods, fantastic - stop money laundering and other illicit cash operations, fantastic.
The only downside will be to 0.001% FID imposed on every transaction, I think I can handle that.

Correct msg - Although I believe Stamp Duty is still applied in most States .
Financial institutions duty (FID) was a duty levied by all Australian states and territories except Queensland on deposits to bank accounts, term deposits, and similar. The tax was introduced in the different states on dates between 1982 and 1992. It was abolished in all states from 1 July 2001 as part of the package of reforms for the goods and services tax. The bank account debits tax was also abolished as part of this package. The duty was a percentage of the amount deposited, but with a maximum tax per deposit on ordinary accounts, ACT, NSW, Tas, Vic, WA NT SA Rate 0.06% 0.06% 0.065% Max per deposit $1,200 $1,500 $1,200 For term deposit or short-term money market investments there was no limit on the duty per deposit. But for amounts of $50,000 or more and up to 185 days the duty was reduced by the number of days divided by 365; so, for example, was 0.0012% on a 73-day investment (1/5 of the year). The duty was levied according to the state where the bank account was domiciled, not where the account holder lived. About $1 billion per year was being collected just before its abolition (calculated by the Australian Bankers' Association).

Possum, made you curry tonight. Turned out really well. Thanks
msg, I know you made my Sausage & Mushroom Stroganoff Sausage and Mushroom Stroganoff. - The Grey Nomads Forum (activeboard.com) I am now using Coles "V2 Mince" instead of Sausages (I'm not going vegetarian, just getting plumper sitting around). I am also using canned tomatoes instead of tomato paste. (To make it less viscose after losing "sausage juices). Give it a go.

As I am sick of ticking off 3 pages of bank statement, I have mostly gone back to cash, but 4 times now in last week the till person cannot comprehend me giving the bit extra to save the change. eg. purchase is $37.10, so I hand over $42.20. They are bewildered, or attempt to short change me, seemingly cannot input amount they get into till even.
Good one. Thinking heart smart rather than calories. Mantra = Low salt, Low Saturated fats, few processed foods.(like ham, salami, sausages bacon). I'm a bit like an ex smoker on this subject.
