Kraft cheese

FYI

Remember putting a slice of Kraft cheese on a piece of bread and grilling it under the grill?  These cheese slices also made the best ham & cheese toasted sandwiches.

I always thought that unless it was Kraft Cheese slices (not the ones wrapped individually) they never tasted the same.

Now, I know healthwise, they are one of the worst things you can eat, but they were so good.

Then the Kraft brand was sold and these slices disappeared.  I have tried numerous different slices, but none that would toast on top and melt in the centre like the Kraft ones.

Well, I finally found them again.  They didn't go to US like the rest of the Kraft products but changed their name and they have been hiding here in Australia ever since.

They are now called  "dairylea Chedder Slices" I believe the owners of Kraft retained this product.  Yes!!!!

Coles brand Tasty in the 500g or 1 kg block is pretty good at the moment.

Dairylea Cheese Slices are Bega's replacement in the Kraft line of products purchased from Kraft/Mondelez when they bought Kraft's manufacturing jn Australia. I'm not sure if the formulation is the same. Kraft retained the naming rights and Mondelez sold their naming rights to Bega for some European product names. Glad you found a suitable replacement with the Australian owned, Australia made product.

It is the same product.   Changing the name was the only way Bega could produce it in Australia.

Sorry Craig, tasty cheese is not the same.  It doesn't grill and melt the same.  When it melts, it sinks into the bread.
