The whole of Sydney is now in lockdown....

I see on a news report just now that Victorian authorities are urging all those in regional NSW to come home immediately.

This is probably a good indication that there will be a hard border closure between the two states in the near future.

After talking to some Victorian travellers up here in NQ yesterday, they are becoming concerned about how they will get home to Vic if this situation continues or even gets worse.

I am surprised that Anna hasn't closed the Qld border. She must be preoccupied with packing for Tokyo.

NSW has lost control.

NSW records 77 new COVID-19 cases, one death with 33 in community while infectious:

Just think, NSW had the initial carrier of this virus when they found the unvaccinated, unmasked driver. They had the contact right there and yet this hideous spread continues.

That genius Brad Hazzard can doff the cap and raise the bat towards the dressing room tomorrow when he brings up the hundred.

The driver who everyone says was unmasked, was masked, was a very thorough driver & cleaned the car after each trip.

I haven't heard of an apology from the government.

Well, Sydneyites are about to understand what Melbournians were grizzling about.
Some how I think the Gladys B is about to regret not going hard early. Perhaps someone should give her Dans mobile.

How can you say it is more deadly, there has been ONE death and she was in her 90's - come on!!!!

More contagious yes, but there is no stats to prove it is more deadly, that is just Government speak

That depends on your interpretation. If it's more contagious, then it has the potential to infect more people. If the infection rate is 10 ten times higher, and the death rate 10 times lower, then the number of deaths is the same, but the number of sick people is far higher.

At the very least, the virus has the potential to overwhelm our hospital systems, which may they put non-COVID patients at risk. The other big downside is that there is a greater risk of even more variants developing.

The driver's protestations and "theories" don't sound convincing to me.

"He wants to look after his own family," Golman said.

"He has a wife, he has daughters, he has three grandchildren and he wants to keep everybody safe, not to mention the wider community."

If he really wanted to keep his family safe, he should have taken an AZ jab, even with his "family history of blood clots". I would think that someone who was transporting international travellers or air crew should be more fearful of infection rather than vaccination.

The problem is the government. People transporting passengers had to do XYZ & people transporting non passengers were not require to do much.

We both intend to get the vaccine like everyone in our building, but none of us are traveling across Sydney to getit. Every person we know is waiting till there is a more convenient location.

In the meantime we do our very best to avoid everyone.

The extra 300k vaccines arriving, will be this week & next week. 150k AZ & 150k PZ which are A & B injections. There is already plenty of AZ according to the army whipping boy.

So in total 75k PZ by end of next week, hopefully. Not exactly much of a dent in the scheme of things.

Vaccine does not stop you getting the virus or stop you from spreading the virus if you get it - it is NOT the be all and end all they are telling us

The vaccine builds up ones immune system to prevent the SARS-CoV2 from multiplying in one's cells.

Yes. An inoculated person can get SARS-CoV2 but virus doesn't multiply as much and that prevents the Covid-19 disease.

If the virus is not being produced in one's cells then it is less likely that the virus can spread from that person because there are less SARS-CoV2 cells and because the infected person is coughing.

You're right in a sense but you are misleading people into thinking that one should not be vaccinated.

There are many more stupid people who will take social media information as gospel rather than the truth from epidemiologists and other experts. In my opinion that is irresponsible.

Seatbelts in cars don't stop you from being killed, nor do helmets prevent cyclists from being killed. Would you recommend people not to wear them?

In the most vaccinated countries, the death rate per case has fallen by over 90% and that continues to fall as the numbers vaccinated grows and community immunity builds.

I have had my first AZ shot, gotta wait for the 2nd in early August  evileye

GovCo raves on about "inoculation", "vaccination", but the fact is it won't stop you getting it or passing it on and that is the tune they are playing

People need to be told the truth - no bull-**** spin doctoring

I recon / bet, that the Qld / NSW border will close on Wednesday.

This will get all the NRL players all tucked up in bed in Qld in their respective bubbles so that Anna P wont cop as much flack as she would if she shut the border and then allowed the NRL to come to Qld.

I am a bit disappointed that, if this had to happen, then, I would have thought that some of them might have been relocated in more regional areas.
My thoughts would be that might be better for the economy in those outer areas.
Thinking out loud!!

Gladys, watch and learn:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-13/covid-live-updates-coronavirus-sydney-lockdown-press-conference/100287504

Residents of an apartment building in Melbourne's north-west have been told to quarantine for two weeks after a removalist who later tested positive to COVID-19 worked there.

It always amuses me when commentators/experts on the news refer to the Delta variant as "more deadly" - do they mean it kills you twice? :)

It's 'more deadly' so we are 'importing from overseas' more vaccine.

The waste we will be 'exporting overseas'.

First a fashion designer (Zampatti) gets a NSW state funeral, now ...

Luxury brands Gucci and Louis Vuitton are 'essential' under NSW COVID restrictions:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-07-16/sydney-covid-lockdown-retailers-open-jbhifi-gucci-lv/100296684

There are very few reasons why residents of Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour are allowed to leave their homes under the state's COVID-19 restrictions.

One of them is to shop for food or other "essential" goods and services.

But the meaning of that word is being stretched to include designer handbags, luxury watches, $10,000 dresses, trendy sneakers, plush toys, cosmetics, fancy stationery and the latest video games.

removalists who have a problem with English ,an not very cooperative with the contact tracers as to their movements . i would have thought with the number of traffic cameras on that road they would have a very accurate record of their movments. i read that $45000 worth of fines are in the pipeline , i wonder if the company( which hasn't been named yet) will be for the chopping block ,as someone would have had to organize their permits
