A deeper look at the numbers revealed that roughly 70 per cent of new infections were linked to the highly-transmissible Delta variant and 30 per cent were recorded in Israels vaccinated population.
So concerned was Israels leadership that authorities urged children between the ages of 12 and 15 to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
On Tuesday, Israels Health Ministry revealed that vaccine effectiveness among those who have received two shots of the Pfizer/BioNTech jab dropped to as low as 64 per cent.
That means almost one in every three people who were fully vaccinated between June 6 and early July were still able to be infected with coronavirus.
However, according to Israels Health Ministry, the Pfizer jab was so far still 93 per cent effective in preventing hospitalisation and serious illness.
The rise in cases also coincides with the ending of social distancing rules in the nation in early June, which is when the Delta variant began to take hold.
In other words, it appears that while the vaccination cant prevent the spread of infection entirely, it can greatly reduce the chances of an infected individual falling seriously ill.

Both my own doctor and the doctor that administered my AZ shot explained this detail to me.
Both of them strongly indicated that the affects and symptoms of the Covid 19 virus are greatly reduced to those who have been vaccinated.
As they both explained, after vaccination the symptoms might go from hospitalisation with a threat of death to that of the symptoms of a cold or flu.
Several countries, including Australia, are already talking about booster shots. I expect that, like the flu, these boosters will be targeted at the new variants.
In fact the ABC has just reported Australia's first case of the Lambda variant:
Our Covid vaccination roll out in this country is a disgrace.
Can anyone tell me what this army bloke is going to do?
He has appeared briefly on the rv most days but he reveals nothing that might add to the organising of the roll out.
Maybe I have missed something.
I think the reason is that when this continues to go pear shaped and the critics blame motor mouth he will have someone else to blame. He will then become self righteous and tell us all that he will not have people criticising our military.
Both MM and that fool of a health minister should be shot out of a cannon into the sun.
I thought the fed govt did a good job of locking the country down, restricting overseas and local travel. However their handling of the vaccination roll out has been a bloody shambles. Scummo and his crew have been behaving with total disregard to the general population. Their rorting of the sports and car park grants just shows how little they think of us. Their no plan in place at all for the vaccine. (just remember..its not a race!).
Its no wonder people are pissed off, whinging and being negative when we are fed a constant diet of lies and bull****e.

Calling it a shambles is probably being kind.
The bungled roll out combined with completely inadequate hotel quarantine facilities and continually permitting infected people into the country and expecting these hotels to have success in the prevention of the spreading of this virus is criminal.
Just the inadequacies in hotel quarantine were evident over a year ago and apart from Howard Springs, nothing has been done. We have been subject to the spread of the virus on a repeated basis costing our small business people billions of dollars.
The states for the most part have probably done their best with lockdowns and border closures but if handled correctly from the start we could have been a lot better off than we are today.
The federal govt should not be held responsible for the lack of Pfizer in Australia when the order placed was not honoured by other countries.
That army officer that appears on our television certainly looks like *scapegoat material*

I believe the old saying was, should be shot with a blunderbuss loaded with his own poo.
In years gone by we have always been served by responsible governments, no matter what political persuasion one may follow. The likes of Hawke, Keating, Howard, Rudd and Gillard could be relied upon to not only make political and social decisions wisely, they would also keep the general public informed.
If we look at this present train wreck, we have a cast of thousand from health officers, health ministers, assorted politicians, a few military personnel and some high ranking police all delivering different messages. This latest spin informing the general public to consult their GP is just another mess. With due respect to the GP, asking their advice on matters of epidemiology and vaccine preferences is a bit like asking your local solicitor to explain the rule in Shelley's Case or the local high school maths teacher to give his view on Pierre de Fermat's Last Theorem. They can give a general view but it is a highly specialised area.
As there is no public education forthcoming, we punters are left to our own research and to be swayed by uninformed public opinion. Banging on about how lucky we were to escape the death toll of overseas countries is pretty meaningless this year. We achieved that more so by the work of state premiers and the general public than any assistance from MM. If we get through this eventually then it is not hard to see who will be the first congratulate himself, if we don't, well there are heaps to apportion the blame to.
My aged mum and several other residents here on the north coast are still waiting for their vaccination. Perhaps instead of having mum placed in aged care I should have enrolled her in Year 12 at the Sydney private school and she would have received it two months ago.

No argument from me on those points DMaxer.
Well just maybe one little oneRudd was a Dud imo.
It is hard to avoid political comments when we have situations like this shambolic handling of the Covid crisis by our Federal Representatives.

Strange isn't it. Scummo was more than happy to appear in group photos outside pommy pubs yet he is nowhere to be seen or heard since returning from an event he was only invited to as an observer...
