I think what all the states and terriotories should do, is force an state passport on every one. That is a separate passport for each state, then you would have to pay for a visa to enter each state. So like coming into the country, if their is a reason you are an undesirable you can be denied. Like being an New South Welshman lately or since Jun 2020, we are not allowed to go anywhere.

Not looking to start an argument between members, and I understand many in WA are pleased with their Premier and Government over the handling of the Covid control during the various outbreaks.
That said, I find it outrageous that a Premier and Police Department feel it ok to refuse residents of that state the right to return to their homes until THEY decide it is safe for them to do so. I find this particularly bad for those who were already outside of the state, but were looking to return home in the coming days and weeks. Some of the people we have met during the past month are certainly in that boat.
We are on the road, and come from SA, and when the Premier closed the SA borders to all and sundry (which could be a whole different thread), at least residents were still able to return using quarantine and testing protocols similar to overseas returnees. In my opinion, at the very least, those jurisdictions that feel the need to close borders every time someone f*@ts with Covid should not be allowed to stop their residents returning, being required at a minimum to allow them to return and quarantine at home with a testing regime to match.
Unfortunately, it has gone too far when residents are refused the right to go home by their own elected members. Those who worked for and brought Federation to fruition would be turning in their graves the way the States are acting now.
PS I am not aiming to make this thread political, as I am against any political party or politician who feels they have the right to exclude residents.

In a normal situation, I would agree with you 100%
Also in a normal situation, as a normal Australian citizen, I would be prepared to fight, if any State or Territory, refused me entry, just because I was born/lived in another state
But, in the world wide pandemic we are already facing, I am prepared to forgo, all my rights as an Australian, and obey all directions, to try and stop the pandemic spreading
I am an Australian first and foremost, who just happens to have lived in Western Australia, since I was a teenager
We will just have to agree to disagree on it Tony.
I expect SA to continue to allow residents to return, even from interstate hotspots, on the basis that they quarantine for 14 days, and have tests on days 1,5 and 13. If they dont allow that, then I will berate them as well. As I say, I am an ecumenical abuser and not limited along party lines!
Our current trip, no where near any outbreaks but into NSW and Qld has seen us expect to do just that until last week, when SA relented a little, and we can return as normal (at the moment), due to not being near outbreaks. Thus we will be heading home via INnamincka and the STrzelecki Track after we leave Thargomindah on Monday. Should be back in SA by Wednesday and then a run down the last of SAs great Tracks for us, having done the Oodnadatta and Birdsville previously.
What I especially find outrageous is when all of the premiers are happy to allow sportspeople, movie actors and other assorted celebrities to enter, with little if any benefit to the normal resident.
Anyway, hopefully it wont come to that, and the outbreak will finish sooner rather than later.
