Hard lessons from India behind high vaccination rate in some Sydney suburbs

One wonders where NSW, and Australia, would be today if the rest of Sydney had done the same:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-18/india-lessons-drive-rush-for-covid-19-jabs-in-parts-of-sydney/100387468

"Almost 70 per cent of eligible residents in Edmonson Park are fully vaccinated and close to 60 per cent in Scholfields have had both jabs.

Both suburbs have a large Indian community."

Elsewhere in Sydney it's more like 20% fully vaccinated. Why is it that stupid people can't see what is happening in the world around them?

I cannot understand the crazy rubbish that has been said over the Qantas decision that all staff must be vacinated, The ACTU president and the TWU representative both suggest there was not enough consultation, and it should be optional not compolsory. I fully support the Qantas decision, if you dont want a jab then best you find alterative employment.

Get over it people. USA and Canada have mandated vaccination for all federal employees. Qantas and SPC too, plus Vax needed for eating and entertainment in other places. Don't want to vaccinate? Then either stay home or get a negative test every 3 days. Plenty of choices.

You can bet your bottom dollar that if cash incentives to get the  jab are offered to Qantas staff, both the  ACTU and the TWU will wholeheartedly support the jab. With organisations such as these, there never is a problem that money can't sort.Sad,but true. Would take hours to tell stories of the things that happened when it was compulsory that I be a union member.Cheers

I think if there is a reasonable industry need, then should be compulsory. Already happens in slaughter yards for q fever along with a few others.

But if you ecide to not get it, (unless for medical reasons) go to the end of the que for a hospital bed.

Love the fire extinguisher joke. Lol

An anti-vax husband and wife have died two weeks apart with Covid-19, orphaning four kids.

Lydia and Lawrence Rodriguez, from La Marque in Texas, were both unvaccinated and sceptical of the new jabs, according to Lydias cousin Dottie Jones.

However, on their deathbed, they pleaded to their family that their children get vaccinated, The Sun reports.

No not correct the propellent becomes inert when applied to fire, BCF was the best general purpose fire extinguisher, you could use it on any class of fire, it became a problem when you used it to cool your tinnies.

I had one of the BCF's in my army truck, and found out on exercise, that they don't cool a beeer can, plus then I had to come up with the reason why I had a discharged fire extinguisher. I think , I swapped it out with the CO's car one, just before that car, was retired.

We have a 5kg CO2 in our block of Unit's electrical room, so will have to give it a go... maybe not as I am one on the committee who organises the maintenance of the building.

Check out the common sense in para starting:

Second, let me . . .

"Second, let me ask the most obvious question in the world. If the vaccines actually worked, why would you care if I get vaccinated? Youre in no danger, right? The only person I can hurt is me, right? If the whole world is vaccinated, except for me (and about 90 million of my close friends), then all the vaccinated liberals are safe, right? What are you worried about?"

Yeh, when I was in the Air Force and after a heavy beer night in the wet mess we'd board a service aircraft first thing in the morning and huff huff away on an oxygen bottle with mask, great cure for to much beer.

BCF is Halon. No good for the ozone layer. Dispose of it for free. More info here:

I wonder how many people around the World said the same thing about THALIDOMIDE back in the 60s? Just think about all of those STUPID people that didn't want to take THALIDOMIDE?

Yeah I bet theyre all sorry now they didnt blindly accept the Governments advice that THALIDOMIDE was an entirely Safe drug, or they didnt believe the Pharmaceutical Company when they told pregnant women that it was a Breakthrough Drug for the Treatment of morning sickness, and that it was PERFECTLY SAFE!

Stupid is as Stupid does!

We are in a crisis situation. Do we take the advice of recognised medical experts (ie those who have qualifications from recognised institutions and who have worked in the relevant fields), or do we swallow the intellectual excreta of some blathering idiot on the Internet? OK, so the experts get it wrong occasionally, badly wrong, but this is no reason to listen to idiots. In any case we now have loads of empirical evidence attesting to the efficacy of COVID vaccines, so the experts have been proven right.
