You must be listening to an old podcast or he was just reinforcing a message he's being saying for a while now. Swan discussed life with Covid a few weeks back along with the existence of newer strains and the various ways it would impact on our future lives in general. Essentially he put forward the idea that a person would be given boosters for the strain prevailing in the region they resided and a person wishing to travel another region would be given an additional booster to cope with the prevalent strain of region being visited and the time of the visit. This region by region, season by season vaccination system is used livestock management and horticulture.
Good to hear Dr. Norman Swan on the ABC Q+A program finally admit that covid will be around forever in one form or another.
We will have to have a yearly flu/covid vaccine.
Not so hard I suppose, as long as we can get back to some kind of normal.
Collo.
Mmmm I thought that was glaringly obvious since about March 2020. Once it left China it was out of the box, for good.
yes even us experts on here were predicting that covid would be around us for the long term ,an restriction/lockdowns were only to protect the hospital system till our vaccination rates got to a point that our medical people could cope , we were just a little slow on the vaccine uptake because we did such a good job in the beginning we became somewhat complacent
I'm inclined to agree with John Cadogans latest vid about why some people are not complying with covid regs. Politicians would rather listen to their spin doctors and fail to honestly engage with the public. He shows a simple math exercise that predicts coming numbers and looking at todays figures for Sydney and projections he is accurate.

as more people get vaccinated the cases should become less severe (more like a bad flu)only the people who have a bad reaction will require hospitalization, as long as the hospitals are able to cope with the severe cases the death rate will stay low. if the hospitals run short of ICU beds /respirators ,doctors ,nurses ,supplies then the death rate will soar
when this all started we would not have coped with a major outbreak , i hope after 18 + months we are in a better position to cope with the large numbers that appear to be coming .
it will probable be, when we get it and how it affects us, not IF we get it !
