My van is due for rego next month, now I am willing to register it for 12 months, but that would be pensioner rego, so it doesn't cost me anything, but a new owner would have to pay the fee if they are not pensioners. Should I just pay the fee myself, instead of doing it the other way, or should I just make it that they pay if they buy, and are not pensioners. I have had a lot of interest. No one has mentioned the rego issue, but wondering whether it could be a problem against the sale. If by chance it take me six months to sell it, I would have lost half which is $120. I know it is not much to most people, but it is a cost that we on low payments cannot really afford. Just want some possible thoughts on it.
Be upfront about the rego. Advise potential buyers that it's registered to a pensioner at no cost and they (the buyer) will have to pay for registration as well as transfer costs.
A lot of people would not be aware that pensioners pay no or subsidized registration and it is up the purchaser, of such a vehicle, to pay the correct amount.
