Yobarr, Will you please back up your arguments with a verifiable source. One that answers Brodie's question and not turn into abuse just for asking a question. Where in the medical journals ATAGI, TGA say that AZ is the better option for over 60's. It doesn't. an answer that says it is preferred by Govt, The only one available or in short supply does nOT say that it is the better one of the three options for over 60's.
Yobarr, what is the truth. Back it up please with a verifiable source. no name calling or abuse.
Well, actually I believe that to be correct. What is happening though is the younger are getting the pfizer because there is a higher chance that AZ will cause blood clots. And we, the older are very unlikely to get blood clots.
If there is a legitimate medical reason you will get pfizer. If not, you don't. That's because the decision makers are putting general population (society) first.
I'm sure you already know this. So who are you most concerned for? The younger people, society in general or yourself?
Personally I'm very happy to help out younger citizens and very appreciative of getting one at all. (thankyou modern science) During ww1 they would have been extremely happy to have any vaccine for the Spanish flu.
I see no reason to divulge that information for the world.
The point for the post is about discrimination against the elderly.
They don't matter so much any more. They are a drag on the economy.
Wouldn't you think that others on this thread (bar one) would care.
I would suggest there are worse examples of age discrimination against the over 60s than choice in Covid vaccines, especially as the latest reports suggest no difference in efficacy for over 60s between Pfizer and AZ.
I would have seen more of an issue if the vaccine had been denied older Australians until others were vaccinated. And what about when vaccines were in short supply and older Australians were given access before younger ones. Was that not age discrimination?
I think this particular issue is a storm in a tea cup, particularly if it didnt impact your own decision, whatever it was.

Chaos, mayhem, confusion. Good my job here is done
Well Brodie, from next year we will all get either Moderna or Pfizer, because it appears we are ceasing manufacture of AZ here due to the bad press it received, and the opposition that generated. Or perhaps we will get one from China!
Shame it was the only one we made here, and didnt need specialised storage or transport, something that is problematic in many remote areas.
Perhaps AZ wasnt such a bad idea.

Am I missing something, but, since when did Workcover cover for illness! I thought Workcover was for injuries sustained whilst on or associated with the job
Again, I thought an illness, which is what covid is, would be part of your sickies benefit Does that mean you can claim damages from the flu(if caught at work), what if you die from flu, it happens! Ian

WC is for any illness or injury you get as a result of working. Each state varies. But if a nurse for example caught it at work, in a covid ward would be accepted I would think.
Is many cases I image it would be very difficult to prove. But as I said the bar is different in every state, including the payments, weekly or lump sum.
Well, never new that, but yes as you have said proving where you caught it would be next to impossible unless ofcourse you are a nurse in ICU with Covid all around.
Not much chance for the average grease monkey servicing your car
