My earlier post was to simply state that people working/associated with the ABC ........leave and enter politics on the left. I am sure we all understand that politicians get elected.
I am "pretty" sure Barbara McCarthy did NOT read the news on Imparja. I "think" Imparja coverage is all of the NT EXCEPT Darwin and Palmerston. She left the ABC (as 7PM newsreader) and went immediately into the NT Parliament (seat of Arnhem).......lasted one term........went walkabout for 2-3 years ........then entered the senate.
Sorry if I misread your position on this subject, DMaxer.
On the subject of bias by ABC, for a current example, look at the articles today and yesterday about the cancellation of the French submarine deal, and being replaced with the AUKUS deal.
The ABC laments over the way Macron has been treated, and his anger towards our PM. Nothing in favour of the AUKUS deal. Sky reports on the strategic importance to Australia of the AUKUS deal, and that Macron is making such an issue over it for his own political purposes.
So, ABC is clearly anti government on the issue, while Sky is pro government. Clear left and right agendas. Under ABC's charter they have an obligation to be impartial. Yet they are only reporting the leftist view .... clearly a violation of their obligations.
I doubt anybody on here has the expertise to give a proper evaluation on either side of the argument. But I'll bet there are a few opinions based on what they have read.

She was a very good newsreader and "not bad looking"..........so when she stood for the seat of Arnhem.......she won by 10 goals......when she lost Arnhem...she lost by 10 goals....aboriginal politics....its a different world to ours........cheers Bilbo
She came from the Borroloola area. Certain families would support certain candidates. If you fell out with a family it could either cost you preselection or the seat.
She also did Stateline an NT version of 7.30 Report. She was a journo for years before that. She was good at interviewing people and asking difficult questions. No surprise to see her get a Senate position.
