A year 9 student at Betoota Heights High has today responded to the comments made by our Prime Minister last night.
Im feeling blessed today, said young Brayden Williams this afternoon.
That I dont have a dad like Scott Morrison.
Speaking in reference to Scott Morrisons comments during the leaders debate last night, Brayden says he isnt really interested in the Prime Minister feeling sorry for him.
I dont really understand why he feels sorry for my parents either, said Brayden.
Unless he feels sorry for them having to navigate a system that has been underfunded and under-regulated by his government?
This comes after Scott Morrison said during the debate that he and Jenny were blessed that they didnt have a child with a disability.
The comments have drawn the ire and frustration of millions of people, with plenty of high profile Australians coming out to confirm they are sick of being treated like objects of pity by people like our PM instead of being treated with the equality and fairness thats mentioned by our politicians dozens of times a day.
Morrison has since apologised for the comments, saying he didnt intend his ignorance to come across so blatantly.
Young Brayden has since told us that he actually feels blessed he doesnt have a dad like Scott today.
The Prime Minister is a liar, unlike my dad, said Brayden.
And I dont like liars. So, Im actually very blessed that I dont have an old man like Scott.
Im very glad that my sister and I havent had to navigate the challenges of having a dad like that.

We are very thankful for that.
From the BETOOTA TIMES...a satirical media.
Yet again another mouth engaged before brain example. Oh sorry, brain is MIA. Pathetic, arrogant, ignorant anal orifice. You'd think a bit of compassion would've been in order.
I'm sure after he spoke to Jenny he attempted to rectify this gaff.
Did you hear the one about a disabled person seeking colostomy bags only to be told to REUSE the one she had after either emptying it and giving it a rinse. This is NOT a joke.
It seems that when you're on the ropes, anything you say can and will be used against you. I didn't watch the debate, but after reading the transcript, I can't see anything wrong with what Morrison said.
Morrison isn't known for his sensitivity, and I have plenty of reasons for disliking him, but his statements can hardly be construed as anything other than an expression of concern for those parents who are struggling to bring up children who are born with a disability. Whether his concern shows up in funding for the NDIS is another matter altogether.

True dogbox...but according to the Betoota Times its really a thriving metropolis!! and excellent reading for honest, up to date news on what's happening in the world..
We also thank The Lord every time we hear a story about a child with a disability. This doesnt mean we dont care, just lucky that we did not have to summon up the extra guts to look after one.

i think that was the message that he was trying to put out there . we that have never had to deal with disable children in our families and the extra stress, strain , an work to raise a special needs child /adolescents, we can only imagine how we would cope.
i have heard some stories of people who rort the system an get benefits for things that are questionable and other who you would think would get benefits without question having to jump thru hoops ,i suppose that is typical of any government program were most of the benefits are eaten up in the administration cost and only a portion gets to were it is needed . how did they manage before the NDIS and who is responsible for the NDIS?

I'm offended by his use of the word 'blessed'. He's pushing his religious fanaticism onto us. Him and his belief in 'miracles' and now 'every child is a blessing'. It's got nothing to do with religion.
What happened to the separation of state and religion?
I see the continually outraged are at it again. I am with dogbox and Dorian, that the sentiment was that he empathised with those who have to work so hard to help their children in their lives.
I assume the outrage at his show of beliefs is echoed at the Opposition Leader for daring to be filmed going into the Catholic Church over Easter? Does that suggest he supports child abuse by the clergy? Did those in his electorate see fit to ridicule his beliefs and create a meme of his church visit? Of course not.
I would rather see leaders with their beliefs in power, than those with beliefs like Putin!

I would think every single one of us who have children, at one time or another, have thanked the metaphorical Lord that our children were born without a disability - see my earlier post. To criticise someone for so saying is confected outrage by those pushing their own agenda. I have no time for such people.

The students had a wide variety of syndromes including Autism.
It was hard work but she feels blessed to have had that life experience.
Indeed 86GTS: I have known a number of couples over the years who have raised disabled children and the majority of them have said it brought out strengths in them which they never knew they had.

I do not begrudge anybody who needs to personally believe in some fictitious entity to justify the atrocities in the world. But those beliefs should be *personal*.
I didn't realise Albanese was a Christian until I saw him on the news the other night at some religious event. I also didn't realise that Frydenberg was a Jew (although his name should have given it away) until he was shown on the news wearing a kippah but who's that with Josh? Morrison. He switched religions pretty quickly.
All people in Australia should be free to PERSONALLY believe what they like but not shove it down everyone else's throat.
Morrison takes every opportunity to show that he's a religious nut. He's shown at all these different denominations at every photo opportunity he can get. He's always 'blessing' this and 'his prayers' are with some other unfortunate person to be singled out by Morrison.
Would you be offended if someone showed a Sanskrit Hooked or Sun Cross or wore a colander on their head at every single opportunity? We don't see Frydenberg wearing a kippah all the time. So why does Morrison have to bless and pray and hold his hands out as if he's giving grace to someone all the time?
He can keep his fanatical beliefs to himself. Maybe then he get on with running the country.

you may have offended some people on this form, by letting us know she feels "blessed" to have shared her life with people in need of special help and being in a position to give that help.
