You should rename you topic as "The government should do something about it". Make a weekly booking with your local state and federal government representatives and bombard them with your government should do something about it gripes. And see if you can get anything done. Whilst some will agree, some will disagree your gripes will achieve sfa on a camping forum.

Sorry but Climate change has nothing to do with fires, floods or cyclones they are act of nature and cyclic, except for fires which are often caused by human stupidity and poor forest management.

I'm a pensioner and I'm still able to bank a little each fortnight, yes it is abit harder at the moment, but if you want the government to give social security recipiants more. Who pays for it the Joe Blow PAYE earner, it becomes a big vicious circle.
Home insurance premiums are skyrocketing. The government should do something about it! The fact that the value of claims being paid by insurance operating in Australia is also skyrocketing doesn't seem to matter.
Insurance is a form of gamling, your betting you will make a claim, the insurance company is betting you wont.
The recent floods what most stupid thing you can do, rebuild on a flood prone zone, or fire area. Hence insurance priemums are rising and that extend to all policies.
Many houses were destroyed by bushfires. The government should do something about it! The fact that many of the destroyed houses were built in remote, known high fire risk locations doesn't seem to matter.
Ultimatly who's fault is that the home owner who choose to build there, and partially the council for giving an approval to build. As an ex Vol Fireman I have responded to bush fires, sometimes we just shake our head and wonder why did you build a house there, other times we refuse to save the property because it was too dangerous.

A Royal Commission has revealed that many aged care facilities are under staffed. The government should do something about it! The fact that few people are willing to work in the aged care industry due to the prevalence of psychological and physical abuse by residents with one report indicating that 50% of new recruits quit within one year, doesn't seem to matter.

The Solomon Islands has signed a security pact with China which could have future implications for Australia's security. The government should do something about it! The fact that the Solomon Islands is a sovereign nation and its government can do whatever it wants within its own country AND the fact that China offered personal financial inducements to senior members of the Solomon Islands government doesn't seem to matter.
Now Somoa has just signed up with China, where do you think this put American Somoa, the chinese money bag men will sign up more of these small island nations.

Yet again we see people being misinformed.

Climate change DOES affect floods, fires and cyclones. Climate change causes more severe weather and that's exactly what we are seeing with the more severe flooding, fires and cyclones.

Australia should stop listening to ignorant old farts whose view of climate is the result of lifting a wet finger to the wind while sculling a stubby from their deck chair during happy hour.

The scientists have spoken. End of story. They've told us what is happening and what will happen, and they have given us a timeline to do something about it. The rest of us have done nothing that would qualify us to have a valid opinion about the subject.

The only questions we are entitled to ask are:

1/ Do we care?
2/ What do we want to do about it?
3/ How much are we willing to pay?
4/ What sacrifices are we willing to make?

Would you rather the status quo? Where the richest people in Australia pay little or no tax? Where international companies pay little or no tax in Australia? Where the previous government, through Job Keeper, allowed very rich companies to keep their millions of dollars of payments when they would have made profits without Job Keeper? Where the only people to make profits during the first couple of years during the lockdown were million and billionaires? Whereas everyone else suffered?

I'm surprised that you accept the pension.

I'd prefer to let a different party have a go at addressing the inequalities that we've seen getting worse rather than let the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

There have been plenty of occasions in history where the scientific community has been very wrong. Medicine, for example, is full of medieval quackery. At one time we all thought the earth was flat and that human beings would never fly. More recently one Australian doctor was ridiculed by his peers for suggesting that bacteria could thrive in stomach acid, but he proved them all wrong. My own sister was involved in subsequent research into helicobacter pylori, so I have first hand knowledge of this particular case.

That said, we don't have the luxury of waiting for the doubts of every last climate skeptic to be dispelled. We are being told that we are facing an existential threat, so time is critical. These same scientists alerted the leaders of the world to the damage that human activity was causing to the ozone layer, and prompt action then averted this earlier existential threat.

The bottom line is, the vast majority of scientists agree that we are in trouble, and that human activity is responsible. Who are we to say that they are wrong? Personally I don't care. If it were up to me, I would push the Armageddon button and send the whole human race to oblivion.

You are correct. Very little we can do if the big boys don't act. That's the reality.

Yep time to start becoming responsible with where we build houses. There are areas where houses get rebuilt after a bushfire only to burn down again in the next one.
