I'm not sure if yesterday (probably) or today was the closure of postal votes to arrive at the Australian Electoral Commission for counting. It doesn't really matter. What does matter is that all the ballot papers can now be counted and the distribution of preferences can begin in those undecided electorates.
The preferences of the candidate who received the least number of primary votes in an electorate can now be distributed to the voter's second choice shown on those ballot papers.
This only applies to those electorates where the winner is still in contention. Hopefully, for those who are interested (I'm not), the results of the winners will be finalised sometime next week.
