I wonder why these went extinct?

 When I was in Africa, I photographed and videoed modern day Giraffes doing something similar. They dont so much head butt, they swing their heads/necks violently  rendering powerful blows to the opponents ribs. According to our safari guide, this can sometimes results in death or severe injury.

 I saw something similar on a TV show, probably Sir David Attenborough. I seem to remember they used their horns to cause damage.
