I think it's time to kick start the Tardus. That, or read Bill Bryson's book; A Short History of Nearly Everything. It explains, among other things, how knowledge was gained about all sorts of things like, how do you weigh a mountain?
There are several theories for the start and end of the universe. There's the big crunch, the big bounce, the big inflation (where multiple universes were created during inflation and may still be being created), the continued expansion so that even atoms are moving apart faster than the speed of light and therefore can't be influenced by each other, et cetera, et cetera.
We keep on using our brains to develop theories and searching for data to either prove or disprove those theories. It was only recently that we realised that the universe is expanding at an increasing rate. That really got the theories pumping out of brains.
So much more to discover and so much more to even think about.
Some scientists are so desperate to avoid facing the reality of creation have come up with the Theory of "Multiverse"
There is even a philosopher Nick Bostrum who put out a paper suggesting the world around us is computer simulation,I suppose some people would get a buzz out of that.
Where did multiverse come from, maybe a sherry to many
