Anti theft, sort of

I keep a $100 and a $50 banknote in the top drawer of my caravan kitchen drawers such that the notes are on full view when the drawer is opened, my theory being that if a thief enters the van he'll probably find the money fairly quickly and make off before wrecking the van or finding other stuff of greater value. It's also useful to have on-hand if I run out of cash anytime.

If they have time your plan just loses another $150.

Life is a gamble... either you're up for it... or you're not?

This isn't gambling really. Your always down $150 if a thief hits you, the only variable is their time and that's not affected by your offering. Ask any copper, opportunistic thieves don't stop when they have a find, only when time runs out.

Trying to pass this stuff would obviously be illegal, but what about buying it and storing it? (or rolling around in it)

Great idea Dorian, I like it!

I wonder if I could order on a COD basis?

Haha ..., we have used a similar idea. Put a small cheap jewellery box on top of the table with an old geophysical map with various penned in scratchings..., the box containing small fake nuggets and some old looking, but worthless coins. Make the scratching on active tenements.
Maybe a movement activated alarm in the bedroom end of the caravan.

I think you would be lucky if an ice and heroin dependant animal would stop at finding money in the first place they looked.

We would hope they might but if they thought there was anything else in the van of value then who knows how far they would go.

Of course personal attacks arent ruled out either from those with damaged minds.

HaHaHaHa! Maybe Dorians thousands might be enough to get them on their way after the top drawer search.biggrin

You would probably never get caught, but it is Illegal to possess counterfeit currency in Australia

Cash and cards should be kept on person, preferably in money belt - never in hip-pocket, ladies should always loop the handbag straps around arm and carry in front of body to deter grab and run.

Movement and infra-red alarms are inexpensive and readily available on line.

Hob-nail boots and large dog bowls at van door can be a deterrent (particularly for solo ladies). Pistol club/rifle association member decal on van may make some think twice.

Adequate insurance a must to cover for damages and theft.

As advised by shakey55, counterfeit currency is illegal to possess - overly extreme (in my opinion) penalties are always imposed.

Good one Guru, there are no prices quoted, if there was it would prob be plus 20% of face value then send you the real money which by the way is undetectable, and has all the security, great way to make 20% without working for it. I wonder how many idiots would fall for this.
