Oh No! The moon is full.

With the closure of a couple of topics on here due to aggressive behaviour or conflict between members what are others views on the phase of the moon casing or being related to bad behaviour.

It has been regularly reported by police and others that unsociable behaviour increases during period of the full moon.

What do we think.?

Lunatic is an antiquated term referring to a person who is seen as mentally illdangerousfoolish,[1][2] or crazyconditions once attributed to "lunacy". The word derives from lunaticus meaning "of the moon" or "moonstruck".[

When I first started driving long distance a wise old steeroligist told me to watch the driving of others during the week around the full moon.

On occasions I have seen some very dangerous driving and at times could relate it the the Loony Week.

When sleeping in a truck sleeper bunk I rarely got a good sleep when the moon was full and the sky was clear.
Shading of all widows was mandatory to cut down the light. The older trucks with no shades were not that good on the moon.

Many cultures over millennia have thought so but modern studies can find no significant correlation. Google is your friend.

Yes I have read a few studies on it and one explanation was that centuries ago man did not get a good sleep during the full moon and the *belief* apparently started from there.

I think some people can be A Holes no matter what the moon is doing. biggrin

The phenomenon does seem to become believable on social media and some forums.

Try living with someone who is bipolar, the moon definitely affects them. Source: 47 year old still living with us.

I understand, believe you me I do.

And yes, the research does suggest that people with bipolar disorder (the only group found) sometimes are affected by lunar cycles.

Sometimes one has to walk away - no one has infinite strength.

Go well rgren2.

 Interesting.

There appears to be a somewhat broad spectrum of the disorder.

It's just more labels to allow the drug companies to produce some "cure" which will be paid for by some poor devil - DSM V has thousands of such labels.

Personally, when it comes to many modern diagnosed psychiatric disorders I'm a supporter of that wonderful line uttered by Bernard from Yes Minister:

----

"Ah yes: that's one of those irregular verbs:

I am an individual

You are eccentric

He is round the twist"

----

If anyone can define sanity I'll have a listen... but, thank God, I'm still waiting....

Have you ever met someone that seems to be in their own little world?

At work when there is a deadline or similar situation, everyone else is panicking or stressing except them.

They calmly carry on at the same pace, unstressed every day the same.

When you talk to them they have a blank stare & a far away look in their eyes.

A bit like talking to someone thru thick soundproof & bulletproof glass.

I have always envied them, they certainly don't suffer from stress.

They might live longer as a consequence?
