I have had a couple of incidences where my internet has been slowing right up at times.
I phone the internet provider and have been told that my area is due for an upgrade and it will happen within 3 to 6 months.
I will believe it when I see it but anyway.
This conversation with the provider began two days ago and finished yesterday.
As strange as it may seem I got a call this morning and the caller was claiming to be here to help me get a better connection.
What she wanted me to do was install an app on my device that provided a *remote desktop access*.
When I questioned her as to the validity of her actually being with my internet provider she assured me she was but when I asked her for my full name and address she began guessing my first name and my postcode was 2800 kilometres from where I live at the moment.
When I burst into laughter she hung up so I guess I am not getting my internet fixed today.
When I get these nuisance calls I check the number on the reverse call site which provides comments from others as to what the caller had said.
This number had internet, banks, nbn, and some others all from the same phone number.
For anyones interest the number that called me was 03 9917 7878.
But what really concerns me is how did the scammer know I was having a problem with my internet or was their call to me just a very good coincidence.

Love these idiots ringing up. We got a call saying that there was a problem with our Telstra internet. We're with Dodo. Many years ago I got a call from a guy that said that he'd had sex with my wife before I met her. I asked how she went.
A few times I have pretended that I have a phone with buttons, after avoiding various answers. Then they ask if it the phone has a camera. I say I don't know, I'll have a look. No. They hang up.

Had plenty of calls from Microsoft telling me that my computer is reporting operating system and program problems to them. They are here to help me set it right. Nope no problem with any Microsoft products here I say. Well we have been informed that you have plenty of errors being sent to them. That's strange and unlikely I say. We'll show you how to check for them, you'll have a list of several hundred. Highly unlikely I say. Why they ask. I don't own a computer with any Microsoft products on it, not one. I have an Apple computer. Well that sends errors back to us as well. Your from Microsoft, why would Microsoft fix Apple products. How did Microsoft get my phone number I say. You filled in the registration forms for Wndows they said. What part of I don't have any of those products do you not understand, your full of **** I say. They hung up.
I had one a few years ago from someone saying they were from the tax office and that I needed to take immediate action or I will be fined. My reply was simply that I worked in the tax office and I will come and see you on Monday when I get to work if you will give me where you are located in the building. They hung up.
