Dear .... & .... , sorry to hear QE2 has popped off the "conveyor belt", not that we were monarchists, but it does highlight that we have no choice but to leave things for the next generation to sort out our "stuff ups" one way or another.
A graphic diagram we saw at Lake Mungo western NSW had a representation of a figure showing 10 generations. There were about 2000 of these figures representing Aboriginal timeline in Australia, well beyond the last ice age of BC 25 to 12 thousand years ago. At the time of sea levels being 100 metres lower, Lake Mungo & a drier climate, Lake Mungo was a place Aboriginal people lived through this period.
Destroyed in 70 years of sheep grazing a 100 years ago. Makes us newbies look like an historical blip at best!
Hope you are all well. ....

Vale HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
Thank you for your services and thank you to all the other men and women who have done the same.
I at least hope our republican friends might hold their tongues until she is at least, buried.
Rest in Peace Queen Elizabeth II

Go back home you peanut. You are the reason the word bludger was directed at those like you. You cant enjoy the benefits without being anti establishment.
Not one person on this forum or even alive in Australia or England today was responsible for history so unless you came here to Australia on a convict ship as an officer of the monarchy at the time, then pull your bloody head in.
We were settled by convicts on the whole and they had no choice either. Their hardship was just as pronounced as anyones at the time.
Our Queen has passed this morning, have some respect.
Although I am not a massive fan of the rest of the royals, the Queen was someone very special. A graceful and dedicated woman, she will be sadly missed.
I remember as a little fellow, our house just like all the other houses had a photograph of the Queen hanging on the wall.
As a bloke who does not believe in inherited privilege I am no monarchist but I did have a great deal of respect for the Queen. I have absolutely no respect for those family members who caused her such a lot of distress over her later years. They should all be thoroughly ashamed of their actions, but I doubt that they are!.

I think you might be a bit melodramatic with that Oath of Allegiance Gundog. That exact oath is also given by police, justices of the peace and lawyers upon admission. It applies whilst you hold that position and is really ceremonial. If someone is booted out of the military or police or disbarred as a lawyer you are not prosecuted for a breach of oath.
If for example the UK was invaded by a foreign power they would be the successors and your oath would not apply.
People are allowed to have their views. I dont think it is up to Ivan and co to order their deportation.

The oath one renders only ceases when the individual no longer retains it, I said my oath is and was binding remember my oat was to HRH Queen Elizabeth II Queen of Australia.
If a the UK was defeated then that matters little, the royal family would most likely escaped to another commonwealth country, I will put it another way if Australia was invaded, I would present myself for duty as to what ever need the country requires.

I find it interesting that you apply an allegiance that was sworn by Australians for at least 140 years as just a ceremony.
The difference between a politician or a lawyer breaking his oath as to a soldier is the soldier may pay with his or her life but the others just move on to generally another highly paid position set up by their mates.
I find it concerning that some are so against the defence of Australia as displayed in this and some other topics when at the same time those same persons are quite content to sit back and receive all the benefits that the achievement of not being ruled by others gave to us all.
Have a think about your court system should Japan had won and taken Australia.
I also find it interesting that you appeared to include Ivan in your protest when, on reading back he made no claim that anyone should be deported.
Anyway you need congratulating as you have lowered yourself to the bottom common denominator of contributors in this topic.
Shame on you as your comments were not expected from such a learned man in this topic.
I was saddened more than I expected when I heard the news this morning. At a personal level (not that I knew her) I have always felt she was too emotionally removed from her subjects (maybe that's how monarchs should be?) and I could never find a real warmth in my heart for her but I did shed a tear at her passing but whether that was for the loss of Elizabeth Windsor or the loss of a part of my personal history I'm not sure.
However one thing is for sure she has been a very large part of the base upon which Anglo Saxon culture around the world has flourished these past 70 years. Other things came and went; The Beatles, Flower Power, Vietnam, the Falklands, The Soviet Union etc but Elizabeth II was a solid constant which, it seemed, she would remain for ever.
I have no doubt Elizabeth knowingly gave up what you and I would call a "normal life and family" in order to fulfill her born but unrequested duty and I suspect her generation, family, upbringing and role suppressed many of the emotions most of us permit ourselves to feel.
Thank you Ma'am for your unstinting service and may you rest in peace.

I am not the slightest bit interested in your moralising, your faux outrage and your lectures Clarky. Was it not only a few months ago you gave me a sermon about the reason we sent troops overseas was to preserve compulsory voting. I suggest you get someone at your local library steer you in the direction of the history section and perhaps you might learn something.
I dont cop lectures from the likes of you as to what opinions or views I am entitled to hold.
Have a look at the Oath of Allegiance Clarky. It is the same oath administered to everyone. There is nothing in it about dying for your country or giving your life.
Go outside and salute a tree if that makes you feel good.

In life it is important to know when to stop arguing with people
and simply let them be wrong.
Someone put a few lovely words together since the passing of Queen Elizabeth 11, well done:
Phillip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as I whispered that "I know"
I then turned and looked behind me,
and seen I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.
I gently touched each shoulder,
with Phillip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
with My Angel guide.
Phillip held my hand,
as he lead the way,
to a world where King's and Queens,
are Monarch's every day.
I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
The difference is up here,
they are worn by everyone.
I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
as the peoples friend.
Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
in our Palace up above.
