Thank you for this thread start,
I am very keen to be involved with the ensuing and hopefully informative thread. Have a lot of Linux Lime on a USB memory stick ready to go when I have finally prepared the machine to work with it.
Cheers

I slowly realise as I get older that I am definitely NOT the fastest rat in the race.
Also the older I get the more I realise I do not know.
I have recently loaded Linux Mint on to a new partition of my hard drive, I'm slowly getting used of the differences of the new operating system.
Are there other who have made the conversion to Linux.
Yep, me too! :)
iirc I made a post about this six? months past but have not followed it up.
I switched to Linux MX six+ months past and set my computer up to dual boot into either Linux or Windows. It has gone well, no problems worth mentioning. Other than for two highly specialised areas (software defined radio and email over HF radio) I now do everything in Linux and generally find it faster and less cumbersome than Windows plus **updates are optional!**
Libre Office, Thunderbird, Double Commander, Calibre and countless other programmes work on Linux so, in reality, for most people there is little day-to-day difference between the two operating systems. There is also the advantage that Linux is significantly less targeted by virus type software than Windows.

A good thing to do is run it from the usb stick, that way you can get a feel it, nothing is changed when you exit from the USB,
Another option is to download other linux distros and run them to see which one feels best for you.
Old Fart Possum, was getting confused again owing to title of thread. I was initially thinking of the screens on Dometic caravan windows. I'll just go back and have a lie down.
