Ivan, most phones will not remind you if you are not there at the time of the first notification.

I too have used Professional Reminder and recommend it. You can set frequency of reminders as well as choosing which communications types to remind about. For example, for missed calls, remind every 10 minutes for the next hours, then every half hour for the next 5 hours. SMS can have a different schedule.

I am guessing the flashing light has been dropped for most models because the main consumers are constantly looking at their phones anyway, so not needed. If you take care to clear the notifications bar it is easy. And now, no buttons to press ..... just look at it and the screen opens (optionally).

I have some notifications set so that a small red indicator appears on the screen next to the app icon indicating the actual number of messages or notifications.
Others I have set either to off or to only show notifications when the app is opened by me.

For example my emails and my phone calls and SMS messages show an indicator as soon as I turn my phone on.

I generally dont have sound notifications on due to the reason of them sounding overnight when I am asleep.

I will have a look at the Professional Reminder App. It sounds good.

You probably have a feature that would really help. That is to schedule DND (Do not Disturb) for when you are sleeping. I have mine scheduled to turn DND on late at night and then off in the morning. Then change the settings for DND mode so phone calls will get through, but SMS and other things won't. I like the idea that my family can reach me in the middle of the night if there is some urgent issue. I have not been troubled by unknown callers late at night.

Swipe down to see the quick settings icons. Press and hold Do Not Disturb. Schedules. Then create a schedule for your sleeping routine. Under DND there are various settings to choose what apps will bypass DND and who can still contact you .... e.g. selected contacts, all contacts, etc.

Mine is Android but I assume Apple will be similar.

Yes , I am happy to learn something new every day.

The first selection on the Notification page is the on/off slider for *Scheduled Summary* which allows me to select and group notification times for various messages.

So very similar to the Android, I can customise the times for receiving notifications.

Very handy.
