Jeans when I was a young lad.

I have memories of having jeans that lasted years and years, a good thick denim. Now when one buys a pair of jeans, they only last a matter of weeks. However, ordering a pair from USA, made in Mexico, I have a pair of heavy denim, and $30 cheaper than the rubbish we buy in Australia. Same with shoes I have to buy from the States or Europe to get wide or extra wide sizes. I don't feel at all sorry for our retailers, if they don't sell what I require.

Ian; COSCO have good quality Denim Kirkland brand jeans at sensible prices - downside is you have to be a member to purchase anything there. (or go with a member)

If you have decades old clothes, they keep going.

The more recent the clothing, the quicker if fails.

Products are designed to fail. We are in the create rubbish & landfill era.

I still buy Levis locally and don't have a problem with them lasting the journey.

Yep, been buying Wrangler jeans from the US for over 30 years, better quality, much bigger range of sizes and much cheaper than buying in Oz, same with shirts.

That is because modern youth already have the waist of their trousers half way down their arse.

Not to mention the young ladies you see walking around with their jean fronts randomly coming apart in patches, are they shopping at red dot?

I can only laugh when there are more holes than denim and they complain about being cold.

Are girls actually still wearing jeans?

My area it's active wear in cold weather or thong in hot weather, or thong under active wear if they can't decide.

As a teen in the late 60s and 70s jeans were ranked in order of coolness and which ones you bought depended on how much money you had, in order of choice they were -

1) Levis, Lee, Wrangler

2) Amco

3) Leisuremaster

You had to buy jeans that were bigger in both in the waist and the legs because they weren't pre shrunk, Levis had silver button flies and you needed to wash your new blue jeans separately for months or risk dying everything else blue. We also used to wear Wrangler or Miller western shirts and  Levis, Wrangler or Lee denim jackets. I bought a Levis denim jacket a couple of years ago when we were in the States but more because it brought back memories of a mispent youth rather than as a fashion statement...

I reckon you would have needed to have been under the influence of something to get yourself caught in a button - but then a lot of people in the days of drugs, sex, rock and roll probably were biggrinbiggrin

When I was a young lad times were hard, there was no money and we even had to rip the holes in jeans ourselves!

I used sandpaper on my jeans just like the Aussie cricketers  used on the test cricket ball. no

i know one thing looking at all this fashion fad of ripped jeans .After 47+ yrs in construction i wish i had kept every pair with actual worn out holes that i could now sell .
As for the pic of the lass with the ass like a ripe peach ,,im glad i`m still young enough (in heart anyway) to appreciate it ,so can`t complain about that fashion trend .
