Has any one purchased a pressure washer in the last 12 months or less that you would recommend please?,  ( not a 20yr old one)

After the K'archer died, I got one of these from the big green shed.

Just check the specs against the others.........it's not bad and does the job on the van as well.

My neighbour has a 20+ year old pressure cleaner, probably keeps going because it has a brass head & not aluminium which die in 12 months.

When my beaut Gerni went in for a warranty repair about 10 years ago the repair guy said that a secret to its longevity is to run a little vegetable oil through it after use.  Seems it was to coat the dissimilar metals used to prevent corrosion.

On an unrelated matter the Stihl repair guy advised me that after using any 2 stroke  tool, I should empty the tank & run the motor on idle until the fuel left in the system ran out.  It seems that various additives in the fuel formed a varnish like skin on the various bits leading to starting/poor running etc difficulties.

We bought a new Ryobi 1800W ( can't be bothered finding the manual ) pressure washer maybe 5 months ago.

Use it for general duties,
Washing 4WDS ( 2 of which get really muddy ) boats, ' vans, our gutters and double storey windows,

And the driveway after all that,

Think it was around $ 170,
Does the job.

you need to get one that has more ltrs per minute rather than PSI, you can have 3000 psi with very little water and to fine a spary.

Another option if you want & or need to save water. I use my triple ARB compressor setup with a venturi gun at 0.5L per minute of imported bottled water, the fine spray of the water is very abrasive cleaning rims etc. Works well cleaning the car in the bush with limited water supply.

To stay on topic.

I got one of these. In fact, I got it from that Barn mob with auto stuff, in Albury, just after a meet up with Craig1.

Not the best on the market but OK for what I wanted it for.

Struth When, you have raised the bar with that one. 9 1/2 or ten times the price. Could give it to grandsons when I shuffle.

Whoops, " shuffle ", our mate Doug should have been doing that . ha ha

I haven't owned, but have used a few of the ebay special petrol driven pressure washers with Honda 'knock-off' motors, a couple of them being 8 to 10 years old.

They have certainly been more powerful than any of the electric units I have used or owned, which depending upon intended use may be worthy of consideration. Downside is they are bigger & heavier, although generally mounted in a wheeled barrow-like frame.

With a month of wet season rain here we have seen some concrete paths & walls turning black from algal growth. The only pressure washer here we can use to clean this up is a small cheap electric one, & it simply lacks the pressure to do the job effectively.

I did have a Karcher pressure washer years ago, was fairly expensive. It didn't last long.

If I was to get another one it would be with stainless head.

I have noticed the petrol ones when a plumber clears drains in our block of units, runs at 3000 PSI according to gauge.

KARCHER IGNITER.2.JPGKARCHER Steam cleaner.1.JPGKARCHER Steam cleaner.2.JPGKARCHER IGNITER Circ.jpgIm quite happy with my old Karcher diesel heated pressure cleaner, rescued from the scrap yard for free. This model has the brass pressure pump (they last longer). I did have to replace the start capacitor on the motor also free. Repaired the igniter using a commodoer ign coil & ignition switching transistor, both free from wrecks. The only part which wasnt free was the parts to drive the coil, minimal cost. The original igniter was $250 from England so wasnt going to go that way.

If you need to clean things permanently, water pressure of 50,000 PSI will entirely remove the problem forever!

hmmm, driveway concrete is an average job, but not replacing it now, just needs a little clean.
