2023 Season About to Start

A true Skippy pie that one.
Now I got it with the footy.
Got hammered in the AFL tipping last week like every other tipper did other than the dart board contestants.

Blues 5th on ladder I hope I'm not going blind. I haven't been following any teams for a while so I rely on Craig1 to keep the forum updated but I did see it elsewhere so thought I better check in here but all I saw was the Dee's

Hi Craig. No apostrophe needed in Dees unless you are discussing something belonging to the Dees.

Then you might say "Dees' coach" or whatever.

Note apostrophe is after 's' as Dees is plural. Cheers

Nice try Craig, but still you have it wrong!

" 2nd place belongs to DEES " .

NO apostrophe needed in this instance.

Apostrophe denotes ownership, belonging to etc.

You COULD say "Other poovtaball clubs are envious of the Dees' 2nd place".  Cheers

Hi Craig. OK, I'll play the silly game. You have said that "2nd still belongs to the Dee's". Belongs to the Dees' what? Cheers.

Sorry Chris, 2nd Place on current ladder, worth a home final if still there at end of home and away season.

On another more promising note, our Ladies/ Girls had a great win last night.

Yep. This will be a tougher assignment.
I went 2 -1 Matilda's but not with any great confidence.
The poms are missing a few top names may have brought them back to the field.
We will know soon enough.

Wow! Back to the real world.

Can we now look forward to something else on TV rather than being constantly bombarded with how good this Australian team is supposed to be?

Still I cannot understand how this team gets so much more media coverage than teams in other sports that are REAL world champions. Spare me!

If they finish 3rd or 4th  that means no more than that they're either 2nd or 3rd of the losers.

Not up to the task despite having the press and others ram their progress down out throats for weeks.

Reality hurts, but I must say that I'm surprised to see that the referees have't been blamed for any losses, which is unusual for any Australian sports team that loses a game.

Go The Poms! Cheers

I read this today, posted here to show a different view to balance the grumpy old male views which have been expressed already.

Ps. I don't imagine for a moment that it will change any of those views, but if folk read their stuff, it's only fair to show the other side of the coin.

Dear Matildas
Were crying with you but you didnt let us down.
Youve actually lifted our whole nation up.
Youve done so much more than make all of Australia remarkably proud.
Youve rallied us together.
Changed the definition of what it means to play like a girl.
Youve emptied collective seats right across the country as each city has stood tall and cheered you on.
Youve painted faces and cakes and towns in green and gold.
Brought joy and excitement to young and old, girls and boys, men and women.
Youve broken the barriers, raised the bar and levelled the playing field.
Youve championed women and inclusivity.
Moved the goal posts.
Rewritten the rules.
Altered the dreams of young girls and changed the inner voices of young boys everywhere.
Youve lit a fire, sparked a hunger, ignited a passion in little hearts right across Australia.
You have done more than represent our country.
Youve changed the tapestry of sport in our nation.
Forever.
Youve changed us all.
For the better.
And we thank you.
Love, Aussies everywhere

Dees better beat the Hawks today, the Blues are coming for 4th spot.

No gimme today, just like the Suns yesterday...... a tad worried at 40 points down.

Well done to Carlton, 9 in a row. My one eye Carlton supporter Little Brother is ecstatic over seas in Tassie.

Looks like Carlton and the Melbourne will be in the finals. My Bombers flew the coop.

Storm looking good too.

Mean while in the USofA My Atlanta Braves have been winning most and lost a few games over the last month but sitting 3 games ahead on top of both leagues (National and American) Play offs on the horizon.
