'Buy one hamburger for the price of two and receivea second burger absolutely free!'
I have a feeling that people have not read this statement carefully.
'Buy one hamburger for the price of two'
So let's say one hamburger is $10.
But you have to buy a hamburger for the price of two.
So that is $20.
You pay $20.
You get the second hamburger thrown in.
But the sale is $20.
Clever wording depending on which perspective this statement it affects. But from the customers' point of view you have paid $20 for two hamburgers.
No savings at all.
In other words another $10 for the second hamburger when you probably only really wanted one to start with (if that) & the second hamburger will end up as a technicolour projectile due to too full stomach.
