I'm suggesting the arguing begins in the first instance by insults then its defending yourself from then on which you have a right to do rather than "It's those who seem to thrive on arguing that bring the forum down.". A big difference.
Anyway, the forum needs an overseer.
An accurate observation of a common pattern here I believe.
What was a good idea from Possum, all we get now is the nay sayers wanting to dig their righteous heels in.
No room for flexibility.
No consideration for what is almost a 'one off' subject for the most part.
No consideration for those unable for one reason or another to get some info, albeit unbiased.
Then you wonder why this is such an unfriendly forum. Time to grow up fellows and stop
with this attitude of 'I'll take my toys with me so no one can play'.

Criky, all ya gotta do is follow the rules, it ain't difficult.
The majority of posts on this thread suggest the forum would be a better place if the rules were changed. That was the point of Possum starting the thread.

This is part of his original post: QUOTE 'At most campfire gatherings of GN's the main topic of discussion is the up-coming Referendum, commonly called the Voice Referendum.
To me as a moderately educated person, I believe that the debate on how to comprehend and fill out Ballots (without offering advice on the " No or Yes" question) is a valid topic for the I digress section of the Forum.' END QUOTE. This was followed up by:QUOTE 'My ideal would be not to talk about politics at all, and limit discussions to the technical aspects of the referendum, and the understanding by members of such.' END QUOTE
What I read is a one off change. Change may not be the correct wording. A relaxation of the rules for this one topic.
And I suppose you have never broken any rules Santa. Did you not justify that event. I have broken many rules. Many for example by speeding.
Only ever tried to justify that when I got caught.
BTW in case you haven't heard: Rules were meant to be broken'.
How about if we leave the broken or not broken rule(s) and concentrate on the crux of the matter.
Thanks everyone, for your input. Unfortunately, I feel that it is very difficult to discuss this issue without it veering into politics. Experience has taught us that political posts always become heated, personal and ultimately negative. We would really like this forum, above all, to be a positive place to discuss the grey nomad lifestyle. I do not feel that discussions about the Voice are appropriate for this forum. Thanks for your understanding.
