When making a pole holder, I made it in 2 sections using end caps glued together 400mm from one end. The long end is for grey water tube storage, the short end for a tool roll. Screw caps on each outer end with chain.

An old tee shirt works well for rolling up spanners. Very compact so you can have even more spanners. Stahlwille spanners a lighter weight than the cheap rubbish.
