I have farmers in Tassy as relatives. All my life I've had the specialty of farmers rammed down my throat along with "those mainlanders" comments.
Yet, it was a mainlander that removed a tumour from their mothers brain. A talented surgeon at that, that never had a bumper sticker "thank a doctor".
During covid many prevented the spread. Yet, the most important employee in a hospital was the cleaner. What a thankless task. A clean toilet, stair handrails etc never gets a thankyou but dirty ones bring complaints.
"If you can read this thank a teacher". Such is that bumper sticker, what about the builder that built the classroom or the mill worker that supplied wood for the paper?
Nobody twists a farmers arm up their back to reap hay. Many, most even, inherited their farms whereby others dont get such opportunity. Some havent diversified to other crops "doing it the way dad and pop did it" only to fall.
I'll thank the spare parts guy in the city that supplies the bearings for the tractor and harvester. Without him the farmer is doomed. Sticker "if you can eat thank a spare parts guy, tanker driver, fuel supplier, tyre fitter, auto electrician..." So lets thank everyone because as a society we are all a piece in the society jigsaw...

Not at all. Don't like any professions elevated over others. The majority of professions go about their work without feeling special. It doesn't mean I don't have compassion for farmers struggles.

I thought that it was truck drivers who are the most important.
Several years ago, I enjoyed watching a documentary about a US Ford factory where they made "pick-up trucks" of various models, all on the one assembly line. What was great was that the management technique in the factory was to make everyone feel that their own job was important for the outcome for the business eg designers, engineers, assembly line workers, and cleaning staff. Everyone felt their importance of their role and took ownership and pride in their role. (At least that is what the various staff stated in their interviews during the documentary.)

Dunno whether your having a shot at Tasmanians or farmers or just your own family. Bizarre.
What is not bizarre but typical is a member that has been here a mere 4 years with 250 posts and never commenced a topic. I call them "swannies". Swan in to read others posts, misunderstand them by cherry picking words not the context of the post, and swoop by rock in hand then swan out. A sideliner
