Actually the first Prime Ministers house in Balgowlah, a Norfolk Pine was struck by lightning & was removed (was just to the right of photo).
Not quite sure if the the lightening was a delayed political message. But for my other half's round number birthday, I hired the first Prime Minister's home for a colonial ball dance.
At the time it was owned by the Norwegian Sailors fraternity. Shortly after our colonial ball the home of Australia's first Prime Minister's home was sold to a private owner & we handed back the spare key to the new owners.
Fortunately to today the owners have left the building in more or less in original condition, but the lighter paint I do personally think has not been quite appropriate. Fixing the roof I have no arguments with, they have replaced the corrugated roof with similar profile.
A few air conditioners for summer would be another item none of us would have any issues with & could be simpethettically placed around the building. The commercial fridges inside were very much appreciated. Don't know how women survived the heat in the multiple layers of dress in the period. Frightening stuff.
