Brain dead

Google Maps Street View should enable to see whether there were railway flashing lights in place before the truck/rail accident, provided a recent photography pass had been done. At the moment, not enough wifi power for me to check.

No they won't.  Out of hours school care has been outsourced for years.  Those organisations will just do the full day instead of before and after school hours.

No.  I read the QLD Education Dept - Making changes to school hours procedure (effective 22/01/2024)

https://ppr.qed.qld.gov.au/pp/making-changes-to-school-hours-procedure

Only paragraph of importance is the one under Principle Responsibilities:

  • Ensure appropriate supervision is provided for students who are at school within a reasonable period before the scheduled day starts or after the scheduled day finishes (for example, due to transport constraints, family need).

Which I can tell you with absolute certainty is not done by teachers but is now done by 3rd party organisations who already do Before and After school care and School holiday Care.  There are already negotiations underway to extend that to cover the full day if schools go to a 4 day week.
