One was in front of us the other day, very nice condition. We had forgotten how the Beetle over the decades has shrunk!

 

Length 4079mm

Width 1539mm

Weight 800 - 840kg 

 

By comparison our little Land Rover Freelander:

Length 4500mm

Width 1910mm

Weight 1775kg

My parents bought a second hand one when I was a kid.

 

Apparently there was money still owing on it. Back in those days there was no easy way to check.

 

The finance company broke into our garage and stole the car & kept it until the money owing was paid.

 

I don't know how this was sorted out, but we did eventually get it back.

 

My Dad actually needed it to get to work.

One of my school friends had one as his first car. Horrible thing, we drove each other cars a few times. My first car was Peugeot 504, so no comparison!

 The 504 Puggit certainly was a great car in its day. Super comfortable, roomy and handled well, although not blessed with an abundance of power. Cheers
